funny you should mention bose, the guy pricing the above stuff got 10k from dearly departed dad as a thanks for pricing his crap post mortem, He spent all 10 getting a 60" plasma and bose system installed. I just laughed.

    need more power

I personally think anyone who spends $126 on speaker wires has more money than brains, but that is a different story. The actual price was $99 plus shipping so I paid about 18% of retail for it. Why so cheap no remote, (who cares I borrowed one an programmed my learning remote) and it was an out...

need help for connections speaker wireing cabel

That kind of depends on the speaker wire you are using and the amount of juice you are pushing through them. 18 or 20 gauge wire at ten meters is probably a pretty big difference in quality to one that that is say ten feet. With 12 or 14 gauge wire the difference will be negligible if at all.

    Radiohead- Choose your own price.

the bitch and moan audio squad will complain about anything and everything. For those of us with less than golden ears and no desire to be pompous windbags who like to type a lot, the format and the price are as great as the album. I downloaded my early yesterday morning listened to the whole...

Something to make speaker wire come out of speaker easily?

When my boy was that age I put an inline banana plug slightly lower than the speaker stand with the wire from the stand to speaker held firmly in place. This also works well when you are moving around on crutches.

    HDTV over antenna - questions

for me the cost would be $20 plus the regular cable, which I don't have or want. But $10 a month is still $120 a year vs a $100 once if you already have the other equipment. You can expect The PCI HD Tuner to last a good 10 years even if you can't expect windows 10 years from now to support it.

    HDTV over antenna - questions

Quite right on HD DVR's. If you already have an older p4 (which likely has a decent sized hd, ram, and soundcard) turning it into and hdtv receiver, recorder and player is only about $100. The other big expansion capability is HD radio a radio tuner is another $200 on top of your hdtv tuner. So...

    HDTV over antenna - questions

However since most people don't have their theater system in a closed or sound proofed room and have to make do with what ever space they have available the noise of a computer really doesn't make that much difference in the long run. With the AC or the furnace (in a month or so), the low hum of...

I have a couple of questions about my antenna and setup Does anyone have any idea what color my antenna is for I have a philips mant310. I got it with my HD Radio Tuner (bought the pair on ebay) It works great for both the HD Radio and both regular TV and HDTV, I currently have it hooked up...

I use mine for specialty tapes, transferring tapes to disk, and as a backup when my two computer dvr's are busy recording something else.

Will Microsoft fix the xbox problems permently?

I quite agree that putting off buying one is quite a good idea. I am still happy playing my original xbox. Like most MS products I wait until Sp2 is out on them and until I know I am getting a new steady gaming system I am not buying one. Unlike some of the asinine in the HTF equipment forums I...

    need more power

Gee aren't good threads the one which explore more than one idea if it comes up? The caps have nothing to do with calibration, though they may have a lot to do with sound quality. You mean you didn't intend to chime back in until you saw another chance to be be an asshole, be honest about it why...

    need more power

I have found that since too, however my receiver actually doesn't stop on the choice, flashes by almost too fast to see unless you are looking straight at it expecting it to stop on it. Which goes back to my receiver may never have worked properly and is in fact broken, something John was too...

    need more power

I may well add a second sub since adding an SVS sub is way out of my price range for the foreseeable future. I know I am not getting proper SLP throughout at the moment and may only ever come close to achieving it simply because it is an open room. Like I said I am getting good movie sound, it...

    need more power

It isn't the movie sound track I am really all that worried about, like I said I get good sound out of the setup, just not great and with some of the tweaks i have made based on suggestions it is improving, but I still can't really drive the speakers very well when I am only playing music piped...

    need more power

You like to make a lot of assumptions about people Oh High and Mighty One. Part of the reason for getting a different receiver is so I can set up for my space. I repeat I can not adjust the volume level of individual speakers or pairs of speakers on the receiver it just isn't one of the choices...

    need more power

Thanks Lance that is a lot more helpful than some have been. The power setup wasn't the only reason for switching receivers but a fairly good one. The Sony sounded pretty good when I got it about four years ago but I wasn't pushing big speakers and running them in a much smaller space (12x17). I...

Setting up music around our stables.

You certainly could run the speakers a long distance from from your current system, but I wouldn't recommend it. Like Martino said I would use a new system in the barn. How much you want to spend is up to you because there are several options. Are the speakers going to be outside exposed to...

    need more power

I am not ignoring the calibration issue, I will be able to do a much better job of that with the new receiver. My current sony receiver gives me crap for calibration choices, the most I can do with it is define size, volume, and distance of speakers which is already done. I have made the change...

    need more power

i don't think the sub is my problem it is a 10" jbl 150 watt, though if the auction I am watching goes my way I may move up to a 12" with 300 watt just because I can. After talking with several other people who own or owned my current receiver and seeing some pretty nasty reviews of it online...

How to get Digital sound from cable box

either the rep didn't understand the question or the were full of crap. You need to have either the digital coax or optical cable from you cable box to your...

What is the Best DVD-R Blank media

Just thought I would chime in since the thread still seems to get some activity, it usually isn't the disc that is a problem, but rather the hardware that records it that is a problem. I just recently cloned my entire dvd collection some 7000 movies and will tell you there were very few bad...

I have a Sony 6.1 receiver/amp and it works fine for movies and CD's from my DVD player (I use the component video inputs and digital coax) and pretty much anything I pipe through the computer to it (I use the 5.1 inputs and component video inputs the computer).
