I saw it in Houston in the middle of the summer and was just blown away by the snowy runways. The current DVD of Airport isn't near as good as what I remember. The Airport sequels and "AirPLANE" took some of the greatness of this film away but it was a huge box office winner! I'd love to see...
A completely different mix! The Monkees' "Headquarters' was released about a month before Sgt. Pepper and it too had a different Mono mix. There is a rumor, that once the EMI sale is finished, special double CD's of Sgt.Pepper & The White Album, will be released with both the Mono and remastered...
Much of it had to do with smaller labels buying the recorded song from either the band or the composer's publishing company. Once the major labels starting gobbling up the smaller ones, they didn't release anything they didn't own. Beach Boys are a great example of alternate takes. There is...
In very few cases, the stereo mix was, far different than the original "hit" mono mix. I totally understand what you're saying about prefering a stereo mix of your favorite song but some stereo mixes, from that era, leave out a key instrument, background vocal, or even replace the original vocal...
I'm fond of the Jersey boy myself! ..
And those occurring over the span of only 3-4 years? Nothing has, or ever will, compare.
There is something there for everyone...Pop...Folk...Rock..Progressive....it's an amazing body of work. In seven years, they change everything that came...
I agree...it is stunning to know that the same band who did "I Saw Her Standing There" is same band that did "A Day In A Life". I think that was adds to the legend and appeal of The Beatles. And "Love" is a sonic masterpiece in 5.1
The song "Please Please Me" has been my favorite Beatle song for the last year, replacing "And Your Bird Can Sing" which held the top spot for a long time. "Getting Better" has been making a run for #1 but I don't think it's going to make it. The stereo version of "Please Please Me" with...
I have to listen to the radio at day at work, so when I come home, I usually slip on the ipod. I forget that I have all these channels at home. I have a tendency to get bored with genres. I'd like a,50's-60's-70's channel ,rather than one channel of each.
You're right Scott. In 64 I went to buy Meet The Beatles and they were sold out, so I took home The Second Album. It opens with Roll Over Beethoven and rocked pretty hard for 64. It's still my test disk when I'm setting levels! That being said, I forget to put it in any "top list." The Capitol...
Scott: "Well said. Some of those mono. mixes are superb. For my own part, I will take monophonic recordings over rechanneled stereophonic any day. Incidentally, our library (read: me ) just ordered the book by Dave Marsh, The Beatles' Second Album (New York: Rodale, c2007). The ISBN for the...
This is exactly what I have. I've got two D* DVR's, Tosh A2, and a Panny BD30 hooked up to it and it works great! 4 Port HDMI Switcher Selector W/ Remote& 2 6FT HDMI cbl - eBay (item 290198429918 end time Jan-24-08 11:34:03 PST)
The 880 will do a lot of things but it won't control your PS3. Sony does make a nice blue tooth remote, that's cheap, and works well for both movies and gaming. I've got one and it's nice to have around so you don't have to deal with the game controllers. I got mine at BB.
I'll try it this weekend. I never really had a clear answer on what was better. I'm certainly glad to hear from someone with the same gear I have. Now...what about BR and the Panny? :)
I'm still using the Optical out on my Onkyo SR604 for my A2. What would be the best use of the audio on the Panny? Stay with optical or move to HDMI? I have a PS3 in the house but my son takes it back to his room when we're done watching a movie. I'd like to get a BR stand alone and be done...
I'd like to know the same thing. If I'm going to get a BR player, and all the reviews on this Panny are glowing, I want to know how the upconvert looks...as compared to the Tosh A2?
I saw full seasons of Hill Street Blues on ebay two or three times and I wish I would have gotten them. They disappeared about two years but someone has them.
I'm NOT endorsing pirating, but if I knew then, that FOX wasn't going to released them all, I would have bought them.
As bad as I want...
I've been making a lot noise about Hill Street Blues here lately. :)
FOX's reasoning (NYPD Blue) is just silly so I doubt we'll see HSB or St. Elsewhere anytime soon.
Although, after much deliberation, I have given FOX a way out. Box sets.
Full season Box Sets of Hill Street, St. Elsewhere...
