The basis is what we have seen in the past. It doesn't matter for me anyway, I get most of my stuff from the UK. Your right, it's not worth arguing with you about.

I am sorry if I am not being clear. My point is that none of these series will get a re-release of any kind with episodes that have been restored since their original A&E original release unless A&E can do a Blu Ray release. For example, since the original A&E releases of The Avengers, The...
Maybe I am misunderstanding. A&E is not interested in re-releasing stuff on SD DVD that already has come out previously, even if they have been remastered since the original release. If they did, we would have had re-released DVDs of The Avengers, Space 1999, The Prisoner. If that better version...
I would bet that this is the same as the remastered BBC PAL release of 2002. If I recall correctly, the original R1 Image release came out before this and used the masters they had on hand which were not restored.

It seems to me A&E will not re-release DVDs. It seems more likely that any re-release from them would come in the form of a Blu Ray. Two examples are The Prisoner & Space 1999. Both series had better quality/remastered UK DVDs released after the initial A&E release but A&E did not touch it. When...
To be honest, I don't think the R2 are that much better than the R1 counterpart for The New Avengers. Now for The Avengers on R2, they are as good as they are going to get apart from a Blu Ray release. It is a revelation.
Region free DVD players are fine to convert to NTSC with stuff shot on...
Put me down for Salvage 1 also.
Though, being a fan of British television:
Doomwatch
Till Death Us Do Part
Not as British:
The Australian version of Are You Being Served?
Of course, like Tim, Doctor Who.
