So far the sub has been behind the tv and I have had no desire to move it anywhere else because it sounds so nice with movies and music. It's even supposed to be in medium sized rooms and I think it has more than enough volume and quality sound for my room.
I've thought about locating it in other places but I've found very few rca cables longer than 6ft. Got any suggestions how long I should buy one and where to get it?
I just received a HSU VTF-1 yesterday and was contemplating where to locate it. Right now the TV is in the corner which is the only full corner in the listening area because of the open floor plan. I've read that behind the TV isn't the greatest location in the room versus beside the listener...
I wish I would have seen the outlaw before I bought because I went ahead and ordered a HSU VTF-1 but I doubt I'll be disappointed if it lives up to the reviews I've read about the VTF-2 it replaced.
I don't know what size subwoofer to get because our listening area is part of our kitchen and dining area which makes it a very large room but on the otherhand I believe our den area is only a medium listening area if you consider the seating area.
If you want boomy I've been told their is a Dayton for abour $130-$150 that's good. I've been looking at the Velodyne VX-10c for $164 shipped that's supposed to be good but more for Sound Quality but I'm still researching the SQ aspect.
Here is what I'd do: Center Channel - Polk CSR from HHGregg $79.99+tax, front/rear Polk R150 $100 plus shipping for all 4 speakers from frys.com subwoofer Velodyne VX-10c $149.99 + $15 shipping. All this for just over $350 sounds pretty good to me plus it leaves you with $400+ for a receiver.
Thanks for you reply. I'm happy with the sound of the R300 especially the detail but I can't help but think they are missing a little punch in the lower midrange is about it.
Been using my H/K 635 for a week now and have noticed that I have to crank the volume from -70 to about -45+ before I start getting any listenable sound. Is this a common trait of this receiver? or could something not be just right with mine? Oh yeah I am listening to DirectTV XM stations so...
Yeah I think I will love the 635 also. On the downside I guess my speakers (Polk 300,150 and CSR)are a bit of my systems weakness now but so far I've been very pleased with their sound even with my old JVC receiver.
Oops it was the 635. I found it at NewEgg. I ordered it and it will arrive today. Long story short but it doesn't come with a manufacturers warranty because H/K doesn't recognize newegg as an authorized retailer. I was told earlier in the day they did recognize NewEgg as an authorized dealer...
I just ordered my H/K 645 for $400 plus some shipping now I'm just hoping it ships and works fine when I get it. I'm also hoping I don't miss the HDMI inputs
I'm in the process of ordering an H/K 635b but I am having second thoughts on whether I need an H/K receiver with HDMI because I've read opinions stating that in 2 years non-HDMI receivers will be obsolete. Is this true? Will this be true if I run all of my HDMI cables straight to the TV...
I currently have an old receiver JVC RX 6008V and a Panasonic 50" Plasma and all my video runs straight from either my DVD player or my DirectTV box not through my receiver and I'm plenty happy. Also I think you chance losing more quality from running HDMI through the receiver than you do...
I'm mostly interested in the bigger name brands such as Harman Kardon, Denon etc whether they are older or new because HDMI really doesn't hold much appeal to me compared to sound. HDMI doesn't hold any appeal to me because my TV, Direct TV, and DVD get along fine without it but my reciever is a...
I'm looking for a good reciever for a medium/large size room. I don't really care about having HDMI because I run that straight from the DVD player and Direct TV to the 2 HDMI slots in the TV so two optical inputs are good enough. I'm leaning towards H/K but it's tough to find a powerful...
Any sub $200 Receivers worth purchasing. I'm looking to build a descent home theater system around my Polk R300 speakers and will slowly replace my other old HTIB JVC speakers with more Polk speakers as I get the money. Also I've been looking at the HTR-5940 Yamaha receiver from Radio Shack...
