Well, I think it shows no brains or class to replace a hard to find show like "Hawaiian Eye" with programs readily available on DVD. I wrote them a short, direct letter and I hope others will too. contact - www.goodtv.com/contact.php
I agree matthew, I loved the ABC Saturday Night Suspense Movie, with the red double lines of the letters starting out like rollercoaster tracks coming at the camera. The Best!! Also the ABC Sunday Night Movie, with the marquee lights. Even if the movie wasn't good, the openings were.
Where Have All the People Gone? (Peter Graves) Trapped (James Brolin) Short Walk to Daylight (James Brolin) Sarah T.--Portrait of a Teen-Age Alcoholic (Linda Blair, Mark Hamill) Sweet Hostage (Linda Blair, Martin Sheen) The Sex Symbol (Connie Stevens) House on Greenapple Road (Janet Leigh)...
"Sunset Strip" looks great on AmericanLife TV, ditto "Hawaiian Eye". At first I didn't like the claustrophobic sets, but the scripts aren't bad and both casts look terrific in the sharp '60's wardrobe. Last week (don't laugh) when Kookie had his car rammed by a lady who had just mowed down a...
"Daisy Clover" is still available to buy on VHS, and it kinda gripes me that they pick movies already available in another format (versues movies that have never seen the light of day). That said, it's a very interesting movie about the making of a child star, with evil Hollywood managers and...
gosh AlanP, that's enough to make my mouth water! walter o, tried finding some info on "Wall Of Noise"...nada. The movie-site imdb.com doesn't even have any user comments (which is odd). Found the one-sheet poster (a dandy!!) but no one has the flick itself--not even a bootleg or a crummy vhs!
Read on-line this morning that WB's Natalie Wood box-set is scheduled for 2008 and will only include the restored "Splendor", also "Daisy Clover" and "Sex & the Single Girl". Even if "Splendor" is a 2-disc, awfully slim for a box-set, don't you think?
To Joe Lugoff re: "Mary, Mary" (warning, the news isn't good). I copied and pasted this off the Warners DVD blog. Any chance we'll see these noteworthy films on DVD - some of them have never been released on video in any format! LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA (odd this isn't on DVD after the success of...
I remember "Simon", but I forgot it was from Warners. They didn't even mention that one, so it's good bet the WB forgot they owned it too. I just watched "Rafferty" on an old VHS last night and it's a wonderful, quiet, "small" movie (and Jerry Bruckheimer was one of the producers!!). I can't...
Did anyone else read the Warners DVD summary re: Alan Arkin? Not just because of his recent Oscar win, Warners is "thinking" about releasing "Heart is a Lonely Hunter" and "Freebie & the Bean" to DVD for the first time. But when an astute film-buff asked about "Rafferty & the Gold Dust Twins"...
I read that Warners is doing a Natalie Wood box-set for later this year: a restored "Splendor in the Grass", "Sex and the Single Girl" and "Inside Daisy Clover." Great movies, but what about "The Girl He Left Behind", "The Burning Hills", "A Cry in The Night" (where Nat gets kidnapped by Raymond...
I'm so mad I'm missed the open forum to the DVD team at Warners last February. I'm even more upset that no one mentioned the Delmer Daves films with Connie Stevens, "Parrish" and "Susan Slade", and Suzanne Pleshette in "Rome Adventure". These are such beautiful films, all featuring Troy Donahue...
