    A Few Words About A few words about…™ Show Boat (1951) – in Blu-ray

They're great. They should have given the option to watch it with her voice - I believe the laser disc did that.

Around The World In 80 Days (1956)

Watched the DVD again last night, and was surprised at how much dirt/smudges appears in much of the second unit footage. There appears to be dirt in the lens, and even some large dark spots in the center of some shots. Was this a problem with the Todd-AO camera? Doesn't appear to be in the...

"A Star Is Born" Garland in 6k resolution

I would be happy to be a part of any group that wants to confront Michael Arick and: 1. Demand that he tell us if he actually has a complete print. 2. Demand that he share it if he does. Anyone care to join me?

My Fair Lady 50th Anniversary Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

"Many years ago I read a biography of Deborah Kerr which quoted her many times. I recall her stating that the songs were a mixture of her and Marni Nixon and that at times even she couldn't tell when the voices switched. (Rita Moreno was dubbed in the same manner by Leona Gordon). As I recall...

My Fair Lady 50th Anniversary Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

I see - I thought that since one or two lines of her voice were used in the beginning of "I Could Have Danced All Night" that there must have been a more complete take of at least that song. But you never found any?

My Fair Lady 50th Anniversary Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

Just found this thread, and I'm glad that people have enjoyed my attempts to restore Audrey's vocals. They do carry the important caveat that they were raw rehearsal recordings - she sounds better in the edited studio recordings that have been released on DVD. I also did a lot of futzing with...

The following songs exist in true stereo - I've heard them, and I know real stereo when I hear it: Main Title That Terrific Rainbow Zip Bewitched Dream Sequence & Finale I can understand it would be jarring to cut to stereo in the body of the film, but the isolated music track should have used...

I was just about to order this when I saw PaulMSchneider's post. I didn't want to buy a poor copy, so I downloaded a 1080i rip of the Blu-Ray. It looks fantastic! I couldn't disagree with his comments more. I just ordered the Blu-ray, as should everyone who loves this film.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Singin' in the Rain -- in Blu-ray

I don't understand. WHV touted Ultra Resolution for "The Wizard of Oz" like crazy - there's even an entire documentary on the process on the Blu-ray. But I don't see it mentioned at all in the press materials for this release of SITR. Or did I miss it somewhere? We're sure UR was used for...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Singin' in the Rain -- in Blu-ray

Sorry, I meant the 2002 DVD. There was a ton of branding about UR for "The Wizard of Oz" but I don't see it mentioned in the promos for the SITR Blu-ray - am I missing it?

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Singin' in the Rain -- in Blu-ray

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Was that used for the 2001 DVD of SITR and why is this release not branded as such?

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Singin' in the Rain -- in Blu-ray

I believe "Ultra Resolution" refers to the process of aligning each of the three-strip Technicolor negatives digitally rather than in the optical printer. That's what I'm asking about.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ Singin' in the Rain -- in Blu-ray

I'm confused - was the 2001 DVD of SITR Ultra Resolution? I didn't know that... I'm assuming this one is also UR - but why do none of the promotional materials state that?

It's not Beymer in the film - it was just a test recording. He can't sing. You can hear it, and Natalie's voice, too, at my youtube channel: It's crazy that they had the discs (which I heard were Beymer's practice records) back in 2003 and now don't. How could they have misplaced them? I...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ West Side Story -- in Blu-ray

I'm just finding this fascinating thread, and as discouraged as I am by what I read, the real bummer for me on the Blu-ray is the lack of any new original vocals. Last year, I received this email from someone who said he was working on the Blu-ray: "I'm trying to find complete, start-to-finish...

My Fair Lady and Show Boat alternate audio tracks

TE III included only one chorus of Ava singing - very frustrating! But when I attempted to replace her vocal myself, I found out why - the track doesn't really fit. I had to do a lot of video/audio stretching, etc. to make it work. That's why I'm surprised they were able to include it as an...

My Fair Lady and Show Boat alternate audio tracks

Thanks. I checked online reviews and it appears that only "Loverly" and "Show Me" use Audrey's voice, and only "Can't Help Lovin' That Man" uses Ava's voice. Is that correct? I've put up homemade versions here: Lost Vocals - Fun with film and audio! Mark

My Fair Lady and Show Boat alternate audio tracks

Just came across this old post from Eric Paddon: There were also a couple of interesting alternate audio arrangments on the "Complete Show Boat" and Fox "My Fair Lady" LDs. On the boxed set version of the 1951 "Show Boat", Ava Gardner's unused vocals were on the analog tracks, as were Audrey...

Here's what Wikipedia says - it seems to contradict itself regarding what was used for the DVD: Around 1976, after its last network television broadcast on CBS, UA lost control of the film to Elizabeth Taylor. In 1983 Warner Bros. acquired the rights to the film and reissued it theatrically in...
