2003-2004 Mitsubishi WS 65511- Burnt In black bars and TV logo at lower right
My brother bought one used. It looked great, $350.....then he got it home.
Now he notices the bars and TV icon FOX burnt into the screen whenever there is a bright background.
If he keeps it in Wide Screen mode...
I thought part of the reason for stopping the Component HD was copyright/copying reasons? I'm confused...as usual. Anyway, its all HDMI now anyway! right. This whole thread I posted is like a blast from 2003. thx..
Ok, my brother bought a big old WS 65511 Mitsubishi. Its only 1080i input is component. (no HDMI back when they made these). 1) So can a person buy a DVD player that has Component 1080i? 2) Do the 2008 DVD's, and in general, remain compatible? I did some reading but all the posts...
yes that would be logical to get a better system, but this one really sounds ok, and the I was under the assumption the DVD player wasn't usually the weakest link? Its pretty good for a $200 or less. I've had better systems in the past, but these all in ones have a pretty cool consolidated...
Thanks for the inputs. BTW, There's not been a problem since leaving the DVD player at 480p. I haven't split screens and compared much yet to various input signals. Seems I was incorrect at thinking the TV would only show the resolution of the signal, If I gave it a 480i it would...
Well I found out the 720p appears to skip. So back to the 480p off the DVD player and no problems. I really appreciate the excellent posts and help. I admit I don't fully understand why I have the problem, though I do understand the fix is repeatable and consistent. The thing I...
I have a HDMI cable, not sure how I would test this out? Sounds like the DVD player is the culprit. But with this train of thought the Upconverting DVD player is kind of a joke< for my type tv>? Seems the HDTV is the one doing the work to upgrade the picture. thanks for the help and...
Wow...thanks for the explanation. It sounds exactly on target with what I'm seeing in error's. I switched the DVD player back to 480p and never had an error, then tried more movies again no error. I then selected 720 on the DVD player, and though it didn't go blank, it had a few stopped...
Its an Olevia LCD 42" 1080P FHDTV...does that help. It never blacks out on HDTV ..never..only when watching the DVD. Seems all movies are in 1080i, when I select that on the DVD player. If I set the DVD player to default, 480...and play the move/dvd..the tv info will show 480p and doesn't...
I have an Upconverting DVD player. 480i.480p,720p,1080i. I can select which upconvert to use, or none= 480i. I selected 1080i. According to my HDTV display the movies are in 1080i. But I started having "black outs" on the screen, a blank screen, the audio would still be playing...
I just picked up a clearance Samsung HT-X40 for $110. All in one, speakers etc... retail approx. $250. I had the Onkyo, towers years ago etc...several remotes etc...no more, had enough. this cheap little Samsung is 1080i upconvert and sounds great for our home and is so easy to use. HDMI...
I haven't noticed any huge picture difference between my 1080i and 480p, and would suspect 720p even less difference to 1080i or p. the large differences I noticed was HDMI from component and s-video...and also the regular TV channels to HDTV channels. that was really cool. this thread...
I searched for antenna help. I built the homemade one for fun, it didn't work at all. After reading this thread, I checked out antennaweb and it showed 46miles to my antenna for HD....weak I assume, at least for a homemade antenna with clothes hangers. but I have basic cable, and as was...
you were absolutely right. i just found a $12 HDMI cable at Big Lots, went and tried HDMI+ Samsung R155 upconverting, versus my older Component DVD-R LiteOn, and it upconverted and was really a nice noticeable difference. being pretty stingy i was ready to take back the hdmi cable and...
Thanks. I may go breakdown and just buy a HDMI...but then I need a new DVD player with HDMI. With Component, I'll setup my TV to do the up-converting of the standard 480i DVD's for now. Am I reading this right?
Thanks. It makes the purchase even easier....Its leaning toward the positive anyway. the store warranty was 50% of the TV cost! so I declined, but was home in 30day try out mode and then learned of the C-11. good article. Sounding more like the Kmart 11, they came out fine...just re-org.
I was wondering the same after not seeing much difference between 3 players. One being an upconvert/potential (though only component cables were used- No HDMI). The other 2 were S-Video. I was confused, as when all movies were played the display on the HDTV read 480i/60hz. So your saying...
Anyone got any biz news on these guys? Will the warrantys be "null & void"? Will they be dumping these for pennies on the dollar? I just had a 42" 1080p Olevia offered at only $650....
So I keep hearing LCD is taking over the shelf space in the stores. The screens are getting bigger, the picture is getting better, the price is dropping. Samsung & Sony both investing $2 billion in LCD panel factory and R&D....etc, etc.. Articles on DLP being sales dropping, being a happy...
Here's some interesting LED (and Laser) info. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/24/bu...?ref=yourmoney TI and others are also working on Laser TV's / DLP... a gorgeous picture from what I hear. (and read). Unfortunately I've never seen one yet. bulbs suck and will die out imo. not overnight...
Toshiba is already making them with LED lighting as I understand it. An employee mentioned an employee special deal to $1600 door delivery of one. I think 42 or 46 inch.... IMO, it's not really a 100% DLP issue, it's replacing the bulbs. Due to shortages in the past of bulb suppliers...
I can relate. The dropping prices. According to a business tracking company, some large retailers mentioned they expect HDTV's to continue dropping in price every 3 months for some time. not a bad problem, but it does add a strange variable to the financially concerned customer. one TV...
this kind of comment is common also...we get stuff home, its faulty but we overlook it. "oh well the knob bisted off, but I glued it back on myself", or "well, the left speaker was blown but I use Home Theater most the time anyway, so its alright". very strange. what would happen if people...
