If you can get a pin out schematic from JVC you may be able to pull out the sub wires, is the sub powered or did your dads head unit power the sub?

Do you have more than 2 speakers in one room if so they may be wired in parallel or series. If this is the case then you don't need to use as many channels from your amp. your best bet may be to buy a 8 or 12 channel distribution amp.

To check the outlets for reverse polarity use a DVM. check left slot to ground there should be 0 vac and then the right slot to ground there should be 120vac. All outlets should have 120 to ground in the right slot.
