Warner's Total HD cripples HD DVD (temporarily) and Blu-ray (permanently)

That's my stance as well, them offering crippled THD only makes it easier for me to pass them up. :)

A Conversation with Universal Studios Home Entertainment

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Universal announce some changes at this show. :)

    Batman Begins for Blu-Ray?

I agree! BB and maybe "V" are about the only two I can think of off the top of my head that I really want from the HD-DVD exclusive titles available.

Warner's Total HD cripples HD DVD (temporarily) and Blu-ray (permanently)

I personally don't care about 'bonus' material (although I know some do), but I do what the excellent PCM I've come to expect from BR titles as I much prefer it over some of the compressed Dolby formats. I suspect PCM would get axed on these half-azz Total HD discs.

Warner's Total HD cripples HD DVD (temporarily) and Blu-ray (permanently)

I am not going to support two formats and I will not support the more expensive and half-azz Total HD products either. It's becoming pretty clear the market is going forward with BR so that's where their support should be prioritized. That's great if they further choose to support HD-DVD or...

I can't take it anymore, I've jumped to backing Blu-ray!

On the contrary, I'd suggest supporting both formats is even more foolish. The sooner this format war ends, the better off we'll all be. Supporting both sides sends mixed signals which does little to end the war. With a single format we'd have universal studio support, fence sitters would...

Why does Universal only support HD-DVD?

And that's why I stated they are only rumors at this point. I know you don't want to truly see what's actually happening with the whole thing, but Reggie don't you at least find it odd Universal has removed the big HD-DVD logo and most mentioning of it from their website? Hell, even in their...

Why does Universal only support HD-DVD?

There's a lot of talk (rumors at this point) about them either going neutral or adding BR. Some people have pointed out that they took the HD-DVD logo off their site and they only have a few releases in their store. While they've said they were going to release over 100 movies for 2007, they've...

Is the HD DVD camp dropping the ball in marketing?

While I've always wanted a single format, I thought it would be HD-DVD that would pull ahead in the end. Since the tide has changed so heavily, I'd suggest you do as I did and cash out while you still can. ;)

Is the HD DVD camp dropping the ball in marketing?

I think they not only dropped the ball, but they handed it to the BR camp on a silver plater. Every B&M store I go into I find a very nice BR display and next to nothing for HD-DVD. Same is true for every other main stream avenue of advertising (other than 18 wheelers  ). I suspect...

Blu-ray Review HTF Blu-Ray Review: The Prestige - HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

    PS3 on 720P display?

Thanks guys. I'll have to look into my PJ to see how it handles a 1080i/p signal.

    PS3 on 720P display?

I have a HD1000U 720p front PJ in our bedroom and I'm interested in getting a cheap BR player for it. Since the PS3 is the cheapest, will it work with my 720p PJ, or will the image be down converted to 480p? Also, my receiver in that room doesn't have HDMI inputs, but it is AC-3. Is there an...

My mini review - Toshiba HD-XA2

Sorry Ron, I misread your initial post thinking you were reviewing the A2. Sounds like you're pleased with the XA2. :) I just can't get myself to spend $800+ on a player until this war is settled. :frowning:

My mini review - Toshiba HD-XA2

I didn't think the A2 had analog audio out (that's what I was told by a kid at BB). Is this not the case? I was going to pick one up, but since I have an old receiver I didn't bother thinking I couldn't pull an audio track...

How about the Toshiba HD-XA2's improvements, anyone?

I was just about to order the A2 and see it has nothing but digital audio out... why to analog out??? I'm not about to buy a new receiver just to use this player. Sad, I was really looking forward to getting the A2. :frowning:
