    DVR may effect receiver sound

Most likely there is an error in the DD 5.1 stream that causes your reciever to have to "reaquire" the signal causing the drop out. If you can try to force your reciever to 5.1 surround vs. an auto detect mode (may or may not help). When the sound is directed to the tv you most likely do not get...

Question: TV Coax Cable / connectors

I've come accross this exact situation with my cable company (cox). When we first bought our house we had major problems with cable. The cable guys would come and check every connection in our house and say the gold connectors were really bad and were the cause of the problem. We had some small...

Playing DVD-R's on tv DVD player

If your dvd player takes the disc and then says no disc or other error be sure the disc is "finalized" in your camera, meaning no further recording can be done to the disc. Many dvd players will not load a disc that is not finalized.

    Paging all Sony Bravia owners....

We have the KDL 46XBR2 Sony LCD. With our cable the HD is very stunning, the SD digital channels (100-300's) are ok, and the analog stations that are supposably digital broadcast (2-99) of these the big networks are a tad below the quality of the digital channels and the smaller local channels...

Do I "vent" the LCD or enclose it?

As for the venting the Sony will require a minimum clearance on all sides. I have the 46XBR2 and if I remember right the top clearance is stated at 11 inches. Check the manual for the required clearances. Manual also states not to have a cubby above the unit trapping heat.

    HDMI/ SA 8300 HDDVR

I also have the SA8300 HD DVR. I currently have HDMI straight to the TV and optical to reciever, works great. If you want sound over the HDMI the setup menu on the SA8300 box has a setting for digital audio set it to optical or HDMI and you should be set. At least that how its working here.

Getting rid of 32" CRT ...

I vote also for giving it away or curbeside recycling. Our 32 in tube did the same thing (origonally 800 in 1998) and got a Sony LCD. The tube went to the curb and seemed to get "Recycled". My friend just got a Sony LCD also and gave his perfectly fine 32in tube to my brother in law for free...

how to get power to my projector ?

I read a lenghtly thread on the AVS fourm about the same issue mounting Plasma/LCD. Many said they punched the holes and ran the cables/power. There was alot of concern about "code", to be in code you must put an actual outlet at the point of mounting and no extension cords/power cords are to be...

    KDL-46XBR2 Blacks seem cloudy

Ive read at the AVS fourm about the same issue (with photos) on almost all brands of LCD, with varing intensity between 2,3,4 identical models. I have a 46XBR2 and can see the cloudy, or light leaking, with the inactive input or when changing the input select, but while watching programming...

modding my scientific atlantic hd-dvr 8300

My SA 8300 has a SATA port on the back, I do not have an external drive but my cable support website (Cox) just shows a external drive plugged into the port for expansion. I believe you have to have the drive powered ALL the time for it to work. I may just pick up a drive sometime as our DVR...

Best Bet for More HD Programming?

WOW comcast cable charges $799 for a TiVO box? I have Cox cable and they charge 9.99 a month for their HD DVR(TiVO equivlent), and if it breaks (overheats, disk goes bad) they replace it free. Works great.

Does such a CD player exist??

I have the D-link 320 (the SD version) It works great except it is very slow navigating the menus and play lists with a very large collection of files(with the d-link software). Also check out 3rd party server software TVersity, it is much faster at navigating.

    Toshiba 42LZ196 1080p pixel-fox-pixel "Native Mode"

Are there other brands with the same feature? I am no expert on all this but. We have a Sony KDL-46XBR2 LCD panel and it has a picture size mode of "Full Pixel" I assume this would be equal to "native mode". Manual says "to set 1080i or 1080p to its original size".
