I had to wait about 3 weeks for mine. It was back ordered and the dealer had 5 on order. When they finally got them in, he only got 2. Luckily I was #2 on the list. For once luck was on my side. So far it was worth the wait. The only thing I don't like about it, is that there is a bit of a...
I got my Integra 9.8 last week. I was upgrading from a Yamaha RX-V1600, mainly as a precursor to a new HDTV soon. My current TV only has component inputs, but I have a BD player connected to a Sharp LC-42D64U in another room. The 1080p content made me realize it was time to upgrade the main TV...
I recently purchased an Onkyo 705 from JR.com for my brothers Home Theater. The Onkyo was very easy to set up and sounds great. He has just the cable box and Blu-Ray going to the Onkyo via HDMI and then out to the projector on HDMI. JR.com was very fast and easy to track the order online...
I just helped my brother build his home theater this past weekend. I recommended a Da-Lite screen, but he ended up going with a 106" Elite Screens EZframe. I have to say it was quite easy to assemble and attach to the wall. If you are looking for a fixed frame and are on a budget, I know this...
How about this, U-turn the question on her. Does she have a Coach or Prada or some name brand purse? Ask her how a $300 purse can be any better than a $30 purse from Walmart. That should get her thinking in the right direction. TL P.S. Opps, I should have read all of the posts before...
OK, I hooked up the 30ft HDMI cable from my Tivo3 to a Sharp LC-42D64U. The Tivo only does 1080i, but the picture looked fine and no dropped frames. The picture wasn't quite as good as directly from the Motorola HD cable box, but it was still pretty very clear. How do I tell is there is...
I am quite concerned about video signal loss/noise though. That is why I went with Blue Jeans bonded-pair HDMI cables. Category 2 cables are supposed to be good for 50ft or so, but I haven't seen them myself yet. I used to run analog video 1000+ft with some of the Lightwave fiber-optic switches...
I am helping my brother build out a dedicated home theater in his new house, and I am just wondering what cables you would run to the projector for a new buildout today? I am putting in a 30' HDMI Category 2 cable from Blue Jeans Cable for the majority of the video work. This HDMI cable will be...
I have the Polk TC615i's as my rear surrounds, and I like them very much. They have a pretty good full range, especially when I occasionally run in 5-channel stereo mode. Tom
Well, I can't comment on the RX-V659, but I do have the Yamaha RX-V1600, and yes I can control the Zone 2 volume independently from the main Zone. It even has a second remote just for Zone 2.
I agree with Greg. I use in-walls for my rear surrounds and Zone 2, and they do the job nicely. I was actually quite surprised at the full range of sound these speakers were able to achieve, without taking up any real floor space.
I have the Polk TC615i's in-walls for my rear surround and another pair as Zone 2's in the upstairs. They perform real well as surrounds and give a pretty full range. With some movies, I'm quite surprised how much mid to low end they actually produce. Most Tweeters carry them, and I would...
Thanks for the response Wayne. I had heard that the jumpers can reduce the signal quality a bit, but now I won't even bother worrying about them. Thanks for the help, Tom
I have a quick question about speaker connectors. My speakers have 2 sets of binding posts and have a metal plates that connects the top and bottom binding posts together. I am currently using bare wire connections from my amp to the speakers. I've heard that it is a good idea to remove these...
For me the decision was simple, I had already decided on the Polk RTi10's for my mains, and the Polk website listed the TC615i's as "timber matched" with the RTi series. Beyond that there was not much info that went into the decision. I wanted a speaker that was somewhat full range, ~90Hz - 20k...
I have the Polk TC615i's as my rear surrounds and I am quite happy with them. I believe that I got them for about $179 each. I originally had them paired up with some Polk RTi10's, but I've recently changed out my mains to Paradigm Studio 100 v.4's. They still blend in with them quite nice.
I'm trying to decide between these 2 sets of speakers for my home theater. I've heard the Polk RTi12's and one store and the Paradigm Studio 100's at a different store. I have already ordered an Outlaw 7500 amp to drive the system, and I will be using a Yamaha RX-V1600 as my pre-pro. The...
Thanks everyone for your help. I will most likely be getting the PB12-Plus/2 early next month. I'll post back when I do get it hooked up and calibrated. Thanks again.
Two different possibilities: Crestron CNX-BIPAD8 http://www.crestron.com/products/sho...t=1273&id=1002 or the MAV Plus 1616 A http://www.extron.com/product/produc...=108&view=diag There is actually a single CNX-BIPAD8 available on eBay at...
Hi Brian, I did read Ron's reply before posting, and it did help me out quite a bit when considering between the two different SVS models. But I really am looking for someone that has done a similar upgrade, since I am not able to hear the SVS in person. But since SVS has a nice 45 return...
Hi All, I currently have a Velodyne DLS-3750 sub in my Home Theater. After recently adding an Outlaw 7500 amp to power the speakers, I noticed how much the extra power helped improve the speakers sound quality. So I've started thinking about upgrading my Velodyne to either an SVS PB12-Plus/2...
