MGM should do a new transfer of The Greatest Story Ever Told. I am sure it has been mentioned before. I have the two disc that is currently out of print.
Someone did and it aired on Trio a long time ago. I wished I taped it and kept a copy. The documentary is called Final Cut: The Making and Unmaking of Heaven's Gate (2004).
I already have The Manchurian Candidate and Ronin 2 disc Collector's Edition. I would like the others, but it looks like the Gift Set doesn't include the second disc of Ronin. I probably won't get this set.
I know someone close to me who hates widescreen and feels cheated when a movie is shown in widescreen. I tried explaining to her what widescreen is and aspect ratios are in the simplest of terms, but doesn't want to hear it. She wants the whole screen filled no matter what.
I saw Duck You Sucker! today for the first time. I purchased the Sergio Leone Anthology at Costco for $39.99 and started seeing Sergio Leone films in order they were filmed. Now I am only have one film to go. I have already seen Once Upon a Time in America before, though. I love Duck You...
Does anyone know who owns IMPOSSIBLE OBJECT (aka THE STORY OF A LOVE STORY)?
It was released on video cassette in France by Alcome. I think it is out of print now.
The Extraordinary Seaman is going to be on Turner Classic Movies on July 27 from 3pm to 4:30pm Pacific. I am anxious to see it since I saw a clip of it on the Lionpower from MGM short shown a couple of months go. Knowing Warner Bros., it probably will end up on dvd.
It looks like it will be losing some of the extras that are already on the existing collector's edition disc. The missing ones are: Photo montage/portrait gallery Storyboard sequence Original screenplay Advertising materials Filmographies Theatrical trailers Could this be true?
My top five: Ace in the Hole (already shown on TCM) The Last Command 1928 Wings 1928 It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World (uncut roadshow already mentioned earlier in thread) Some of these movies mentioned by people in this thread are available in other regions.
The Greatest Story Ever Told was another two disc dvd set that had the second disc eliminated. This set is also out of print. I found a month ago at Fry's Electronics and bought it to add to my collection.
Are there any others like It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World and The Greatest Story Ever Told...
How about The Legend of Lylah Clare? I wish Warner Bros. would release this on dvd. Also I would like to see Alex in Wonderland come to dvd. I have never seen this one, but would someday like to see it. I think Warner Bros. also owns this one.
I'll have to check it out when it comes out. Hopefully there will be an English dub on the films and extras. I am interested in seeing Five Graves to Cairo. I saw The Major on the Minor on Turner Classic Movies. The Billy Wilder dvds that I own are: Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard, and...
So most likely that it won't be a complete Wilder set of the films they own. I guess we will have to wait and find out. It would be nice if they did a complete set like the Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection. I have seen all of the films you listed except for The Emperor Waltz and Five...
It is playing on HDNet Movies this month. The next showing is September 14th. I have already seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, and A Clockwork Orange on HDNet Movies last month.
Does anyone know anything about the Billy Wilder four disc set to be released on November 6th? Here is the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Billy-Wilder...?ie=UTF8&s=dvd Thank you.
