You might try the Linksys Wireless-G Ethernet Bridge connected directly to the A-1. I have not personally tried it but I read in some forum a while back that it worked ok. Personally, I would rather wait for the update disks from Toshiba.
The HD-A2 is advertised in the Cambridge Soundworks mailer I got today for $499.99. I'm assuming they have them in stock. CS is a Creative company with retail outlets in MA and CA and a few in NH. I'm assuming [I haven't looked yet] you can buy it on line at www.cambridgesoundworks.com. I have...
Gregory, get A1 while you can. It will be discontinued shortly in favor of the A2. I too am running a HDMI > DVI on a Toshiba 1080i resoultion tv [I can't recall the mod# right now]. The picture is FANTASTIC. Some standard DVDs come so close to HD that its difficult to tell that they aren't...
It's a 3 or 4 year old pre-DLP rear projection Cinema Series 1080i. I going to update my system shortly with a 46" 1080p Toshiba plasma when it becomes available. I have never had any handshake issues between the A1 and the tv, possibly because they are boyh Toshiba products. Steve
I had a drop out on a NON-True HD title last night [T2]. The player froze about a second or two and then recovered on its own. I am running 2.0 and I tried the fix suggested by Pete TC, which does makes sense. This never happened with the last update. On the plus side, I did watch Constantine in...
I originally has an HDMI cable with an adapter, which worked ok...for a while. About a month ago, I started to get video drop outs [shooting blue and white horizontal lines, several times during a film]. I changed it to a high end dedicated cable and the problem disappeared. Most likely the...
I watched Constantine yesterday in True HD and had no issues. I had 3 dropouts and lip sync problems with End of Days, but since then I have discovered that many users have had problems with that title. 2.1? Did I miss something? I just got the 2.0 disk in the mail last Friday. Steve
I ran "End of Days" tonight in True HD. The sound was fantastic. BUT...I TOO HAD DROPOUTS... 3 of them throughout the film. The error would not repeat itself upon replay so the problem is obviously in the player. It might be buffering problem similar as what was in the 1.1 version software...
JonZ: I own a Toshiba 42HDX82 tv HDMI>DVI. No problems. Originally, I used a HDMI>DVI ADAPTER>TV. With that, I was getting occasional minor video dropouts. I changed to a SHORTER HDMI>DVI dedicated end, and the dropouts disappeared. The True HD is great. Steve
Finally, after receiving Toshiba's e-mail 22 days ago, the 2.0 disk has arrived. I have watched parts of The Perfect Storm and the Phantom of the Opera, and yes, there certainly is a difference in the True HD tracks. I don't think it is in quality, however; the Phantom is simply a quiter movie...
Bruce, Hopefully, Toshioba will begin posting the upgrades for download. They have certainly had enough requests for it. I have the same issue, my computer is 100 feet away from my entertainment center and on a different floor. But I'm pretty sure they will mail you the upgrade disks. If...
The HD-A1 has got to be the best DVD player I have ever owned. Period. It is a BARGIN considering its build quality and what the blue guys are marketing at twice the price. Even if the format fails [which I don't think it will], this machine will always be looked upon as a classic and will be...
Connect the 5.1 Out on the Toshiba to the 5.1 In on the Denon with high quality RCA cables. If they have a directional arrow, make sure the arrow points to the receiver. On the front panel of the Denon, select External. The Denon display will now show something like 6.1 External In DVD. By doing...
I have had no problems. My HD-A1 is connected to my Toshibe 42XHD82 by a 3 meter HDMI with a DVI adaptor. The HD-A1 recognized it the tv immediatly. Make sure the tv is turned on FIRSTand is set to DVI or you will get an HDMI Error 1 on the DVD player. This happens to me occasionally when my...
I'm using 1.4. I get that quick freeze up only occasionally. I remember reading somewhere with the original software, that it was a buffering problem, i.e., the audio was trying to catch up to the video or visa versa. I think the upgrade[s] addressed that problem, but there might still be some...
