Having put up with the public domain DVD over the years, I have to say that I was blown way by this gorgeous blu-ray. The cinematography is soooooo nice to behold via this restoration.
Amazon's website explicitly lists this as being a 2016 repackaging, which is something that they virtually never do, so although I will watch for reviews, I don't expect it to be anything new.
A couple of years ago, they said the blu could be in a couple of years....can only hope soon! This is the anniversary year after all for the 2 best known versions, the '36 and '51! Surely this will be the year for the long promised set with all 3 versions, hopefully...
Well, I'm happy to have all 9 seasons. If I recall, since I haven't been able to keep up my viewing with the current release schedule, the show kinda went into a slump with seasons 5-7 (?), but I think I liked seasons 8 & 9 quite a bit more. Will be nice to revisit.
I'm just glad to finally own the roadshow version, which is certainly watchable. Of course I want high-def beauty, but if this all that MGM could offer, then I'll live with it and I'm thankful that someone allowed me the option to buy it. Someone in one of these these threads said that they...
Hee Haw! I used to watch it with my family. Good times. I love that old country music and stupid, but funny jokes. Would love to watch the highlights from the show again for some laughs and good music and to see some old stars that we just don't see any more. (Carol Burnett would be 2nd place!)
It was announced on Tuesday of this week that David Canary who played Candy Canaday in Bonanza, starting in Season 9, had passed away on November 16. I'm thinking that he was the last regular star of the series to have been alive. May he rest in peace.
Just an FYI, this is available on a region-free blu-ray here: http://www.amazon.de/Geliebte-Brigitte-Blu-ray-James-Stewart/dp/B005IQ1OV0/

Oh, I was looking for a decent quality version of Driver's Seat. I haven't seen it and from what I've read it's bad, but I've been curious to watch it.
On the front of the Sony Choice Collection DVD-R the poster says that it's rated R. On the back on the DVD, it says that it's rated PG. I pulled out Leonard Maltin's book, which says that it was PG edited from original R. Has the R rated version ever actually been released? What was edited out?
Don't know how complete it is, but I usually look on Screen Archives for what Sony Choice Collection DVDs are available:
