the problem with Disney Treasures: Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow

I'm glad I came here so I didn't join the Disney Movie Club. Otherwise I would be Syn-less and be stuck with a bunch of overpriced crappy DVDs that I would have never watched! I'm tempted to buy the Zorro series but it's still cheap how Disney is dealing with underprinting the Syn...

the problem with Disney Treasures: Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow

Don't suppose anybody has seen hide or hair of this DVD lately? I need myself a copy.

Dave's World S1 DVD Review -- Uh Oh CBS DVD....

While this sucks, this hurts the singer more than the show. Yeah, the show will suffer for it, but the singer hurts both ways: if their music isn't used, then they get no money. Then people are forced to go to other routes to get the show and the singer still gets no money. It's a damn...

Invisible Man Season 2 (2000): Universal, Where Is It?

I hope Universal comes through and puts it out. Be a shame since that's when the show really started taking off. You can tell because Sci-Fi decided to cancel it shortly afterwards. At least the show got an ending of a sort, which is good.

Baa Baa Black Sheep Volume 3

Universal seems to be serious about this burn-on-demand thing. I got a Netflix subscription a few days ago to try out it's Xbox 360 playing ability and turns out that the latter four seasons of the show is available on there! Which is quite a nice surprise.

WarnerArchive.com to release: Maverick, 77 Sunset Strip, Bourboun Street Beat et al

It's a neat idea, but we have to consider the looming spectre of copyright here. If you're encouraging your customers to burn discs, does that mean you can keep a copy on your computer in case the DVD-R goes bad? And on top of this, does this mean there will be a way to 'distribute' these? I...

The Norman Lear Collection: Sony meatheads reach a new low

I'll be the small voice in the corner suggesting that the rest of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman be made available on DVD. Because this set just stinks of Sony sitting on top of a few stacks of TV shows and saying 'how do we get rid of these? I know! Norman Lear Box Set!"

Monster Squad (76-77) Coming To DVD---Now This Is A Surprise

I'm willing to buy this just because it looks absolutely insane.

"Quincy, M.E.", Season 3 where are you?

Did the show get into some major crap with the Tourettes Syndrome episode? I recall there was some controversy about actual sufferers refusing to do the show, leading to a lot of actors badly mimicking the syndrome to hilarious effect? Also, it's quite hard to see it today when Klugman still...

"Quincy, M.E.", Season 3 where are you?

I wouldn't mind revisiting this show at all. Even at its worst, it was still entertaining to watch.

Mannix is Coming! (All things Mannix w/spoilers)

It's really amusing, if you think about it: a show sees a DVD release beginning with it's 'rarely seen' season 1 that's a different format yet gets everybody interested. This allows the DVD releases to continue only to have the format change--the actual show that everybody seems to...

Will Paramount Release Season 2 Of Cannon On DVD?

I'm a bit confused here: since they didn't remaster CANNON, doesn't that mean they would put out more sets? Or are they breaking a trend by preferring to put out remastered sets on DVD? I'm confused by it.

    Tales From the Darkside

Well, I hope that CBS/Paramount is making some arrangement to fix that little problem they're having with the Capitol Music Library. It's one thing if its just one show, but if it's going to affect a lot of shows, they might as well make some settlement and move on with life.

Best Buy to Eliminate DVD Inventory & Anime

If I may, I'd like to counter the panic that I see in this thread about classic TV. To be fair, I see it being reduced, but that's because of the recession. I don't see it as the end of anything, but rather a cutting back. The DVD Revolution is not a new thing anymore and as a result we're not...

Best Buy to Eliminate DVD Inventory & Anime

To be fair, Borders has never really been that stable. Their prices on media has always sucked and they pander to a consumer that only uses the internet to look at email. They never caught up with the idea that people buy stuff online because it's cheaper and without sales tax, and that selling...

THE FUGITIVE, Season 2, Vol. 1 - Replacement Program Announced

Just to throw this out there: would a possible lawsuit cost more than the money paid to Heyes to rescore the first half of Season 2 plus the costs of replacement discs? Not to be too silly about this, but wouldn't it be more logical to release the series as is and let the people do all the hard...

    More Night Court??

Indeed. Warner Brothers should have doubled up on the release schedule and put out a six disc two-season set just to test the waters on the glory days of the show. It's quite interesting to compare how a show from the '80s is suffering in the market of today, however. Do you remember when shows...

THE FUGITIVE, Season 2, Vol. 1 - Replacement Program Announced

To be absolutely fair, it's probably because the economy is in the dumps and selling half-seasons at a premium while a lot of series are getting full seasons or full runs for cheaper are having an effect. Not to blame CBS/Paramount for this at all (given the very nice remastering), but that...

    Tales From the Darkside

Releasing Monsters concurrently would rock, and I'm surprised that show hasn't been in release before this. A glance at a few episodes of Monsters shows a higher budget at the very least for all those monster outfits (especially in the intro). I hope it comes to pass, these shows really deserve...

Will Paramount Release Season 2 Of Cannon On DVD?

I haven't, but I'm still wondering if they'll consider full season releases. $30 for half a season (despite the remastering and restoration) seems a bit much. Especially since there's a growing trend towards Complete Series releases for around $100-$150.

"Land of the Giants" recession edition

Given that the whole run fits in four slipcases, I can't help but imagine Fox will repackage it someday and cut the price in half.

THE FUGITIVE, Season 2, Vol. 1 - Replacement Program Announced

I'd like to second (or third) the appreciation for CBS/Paramount. They probably took a big loss in order to avoid a problem and then rectify it, and I'm glad they did. Copyright is a bitch, to be certain, but at least they're trying and in this environment of uncertain copyrights, that's a lot...

    Tales From the Darkside

If anybody had any doubts about this being a seller, I grabbed one of the last two copies on Tuesday night at a Wal-Mart, and when I went in today on a raid, there were none left. I think it's quite popular around here!

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

Me too, I caught that on a local indie channel (that was WB, now MyNetworkWhatever) and it hooked me. For the longest time I couldn't see the third and final episode and my TV was mono at the time so I couldn't hear what the last line of Part 2 was, so...yeah, I need to see this again. Heck...

Will Paramount Release Season 2 Of Cannon On DVD?

I think the problem there is the whole half season issue. While it works for some releases--THE FUGITIVE--it does not work well for others. FUGITIVE has a strong following that is used to the restoration that could excuse the half-season sets, but the rest are playing against the current notion...

    Tales From the Darkside

I couldn't tell either. To be absolutely fair, a lot of the show is made on the cheap so I can't really see if they would use actual music or a composed score. After watching 'It All Comes Out in the Wash' last night, it's hard to tell if they really put money into the show or not. Seriously, it...

    Alfred Hitchcock Presents--Season 4?

I hope they finish off Night Gallery as well. It would be harsh for them not to complete it. I'd hope for the Hat Trick and have Sixth Sense: The complete series as well to make it truly complete, but I don't want to press my luck.

    THE FUGITIVE - Season 2 Volume 2

Wow, now I can go buy the remaining sets that I didn't have. I'm really glad CBS/Paramount listened so we can all enjoy the future releases.

Will Paramount Release Season 2 Of Cannon On DVD?

I hope so, the show is oddly addicting. I bought the first part of Season 1 on a whim and tore through half the set in a night. For some reason, William Conrad comes off as a lovable jerk. I'm not sure why.
