I wonder if they went back and remastered some of the clips--many of the films that were unavailable or available only on VHS at the time of the docu's original release have subsequently been remastered.

This is one of my pet peeves as well. Disney, of course, being the absolute worst offender.
But even other studios can be reluctant to put the year of release on the back--it is especially annoying as I have organized my entire collection by year of release.
