Just going on to pre-order the Newman boxset, what does GIFT SLIM mean for the uneducated (such as myself) Here is the link: http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=750273
It depends how many titles Warners own. Perhaps the studio only owns four other Brando titles due for release, his other work may belong to other studios. Don't know the thinking on the Mutiny on The Bounty release, but Warners know what they are doing and have planned carefully. As for the...
But there is a Marlon Brando signature set coming in 2006. It includes: The Formula, Reflections in a Golden Eye and Julius Caesar. Then Mutiny on the Bounty is coming sometime this year as well.
Yes I think I might be taking out a second mortgage on the house :P I agree with Chris, you couldnt give Ginger a Signature Collection and Astaire nothing :)
I noticed that TCM are having tributes to both Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman during July. Perhaps an announcement on both isn't too far away....... Is Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf 2 disc set the only known title in the Burton/Taylor collection?
Corey, just read your blogspot and I am glad I am not the only one who thinks The Young Philadelphians is criminally underrated. Just look at the actors involved.
I hope he did a commentary for The Young Philadelphians. He had some incredible actors on board and it would have been wonderful to hear some stories and thoughts.
The Superman 14 disc set The Paul Newman Collection (although the remaining titles are unknown) The Bogie/Bacall Collection The Stanley Kubrick Re-releases Double Indemnity The James Stewart Collection The Henry Fonda Collection Some Like it Hot 2 disc Apocalypse Now 2 Disc...
*crosses fingers* Paul Newman Collection (or at least let us know what is going to be in it :D My guess is that they would have the Newman and Brando collections out for Father's Day in September.
Thanks John dvdpacific have sent mine out already (thought it was May 9 - but hey even better!!) Here is another review from DVDBeaver http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDRev...dvd_review.htm
Anyone lucky enough to have had a quick squizz at the box set yet? dvdpacific have already run out of stock which means I have to wait another week and a bit.
Warners will coincide the release of a SE Cool Hand Luke with the 40th anniversary next year (I just figured that one out!!) Harper celebrates its 40th birthday this year. I still haven't worked out why it has taken so long to get it onto DVD. If To Get Rich or Die Tryin' can make it onto DVD...
I love this one as well. Will make an excellent triple bill with Inferno and Poseidon Adventure. If reviews from purchasers are good regarding the transfer, I will consider picking it up.
Just pinched this off DVD Times Just had it confirmed from a person in a post production company currently working on closed captions for The Young Philadelphians on DVD. This will be included in Warners Paul Newman collection to be released within the year. Also includes Harper, The Drowning...
I first saw this movie when I was 6 years old. I remembered the scenic elevator scene for a long time. I also remember William Holden's large black rimmed glasses. I can't remember what scared me the most :D There was a magic about The Towering Inferno that disaster movies today simply don't...
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDRev...dvd_review.htm Here is the review on the DVD Boxset from dvdbeaver. Wonderfully comprehensive review - also worth checking out the reviews for each individual movie. There are some excellent comparisons between the new and old discs for Streetcar and Cat...
Add me to the list Jerry. 'When Time Ran Out' part of the awesome 70s decade of disaster movies, that I would love to add it to my DVD library. I too am hoping for Beyond the Poseidon Adventure.
Just looking at the region 2 version available in May. The special features include a deleted scene and a different documentary to that of region 1. http://www.fox.co.uk/dvd/butch_cassi..._-11187/11187/
