With my front left/right and Center speaker being equal distant from each other. Should my Center speaker be set at the same volume as the left right?

I'm a little new in this area, but beside speaker placement, what should my LFE channel be set at to get the maximum bass through a powered subwoofer? Is the negative (lower) settings more bass?
