    Surround speakers- matching or not

I have had a pair of martin logan aeons for about 8 years now just for listening to music. I'm now going to complete a home theater setup and I hope to still use the aeons for my mains. I'm looking at adding a sub first and will go with a descent or depth, probably leaning towards the depth...

    Dish network

I have no choice but to stick with sattlelite service, I live in the boondocks 20 miles away from the nearest home with cable access. Well, I guess I could put a large antenna on the roof for any local channels that could reach me. I know someone who is an installer for both Dish and DirecTV, so...

    Dish network

Thanks for the information David, I did mention in my post that the customer rep. did tell me to hold off until 02/01 because they're going to have a new option available. There website said that HD receivers are leaseable, but when I put in my account # and password to see what upgrade options...

    Dish network

Called Dish Network today to upgrade my current sattlelite lease to include (or replace one of my existing receivers) with an HD-DVR receiver. I was told that leasing was not avaible to existing customers and it would have to be purchased. A receiver that will run two TV's with HDMI...

    Best DLP projection $4000

Any suggestions on what the best choice of DLP projection television there is for around $3500-$4000? Would like a 60" television, however, if a 50" model has by far a better picture in the same price range, I would be willing to look at it as well. The area I live in does not have any stores...

    Signal loss with wall plates

Great news guys, thanks. I thought I had read before that you want to minimize the number of connections you had to make between the speakers and the receiver, so I didn't know what I might end up hearing with the use of two wall plates between each speaker and the receiver. Thanks again. The...

    Signal loss with wall plates

The previous owner of our house had the basement wired for surround sound for a home theater. He used 14g wire which terminates into speaker connector wall plates on the ceiling, he was planning on doing HT in the future and did not want wires hanging through the ceiling so he installed the wall...

    Help with new speakers

Thanks for the reply, I have my speaker locations worked out. Mainly I just need to know what type of speaker would sound best if they are not near any wall or corner, dipolar or direct radiating? They would probably hang about 6" down from the ceiling.

    Help with new speakers

I am going to be setting up a home theater system in our newly finished basement. Because of our wide open floor plan, I could not use the walls for mounting surround speakers and floor stands would have not been practicle with the room layout. So before drywalling the ceiling I installed 2X4's...
