    Weekly RoundUp 9-19-2006

I've been saving my BB RZ dollars for the Gilmore Girls 6 set. I was hoping it would hit at $35, but I guess $40 is not so bad -- I'll end up getting it for $20 + tax. And I'll have a week to catch up before season 7 starts. Lots of other stuff I want, but money is tight, so I am holding off...

    Weekly Roundup 9-5-2006

There was supposed to be an eventual deluxe version of Fantastic Four for which additional special features had been done. While this release appears to have a different cover, it doesn't appear to have additional bonus materials, so I am guessing that this isn't it. The new FF animated series...

    Weekly RoundUp 8-29-2006

Yes, yes, a million times, yes! That's an outstanding price, and VM is easily the best show on television. Buy, watch, love!

    Weekly RoundUp 8-29-2006

No "gotta have it right away" releases for me this week. I am tempted to upgrade on "Pretty in Pink" just for the original ending, but I think I can wait. And I will get Desperate Housewives S2 and MST3K v. 10 eventually, too, just not this week. And no, I'm not shelling out for the LOTR...

    Weekly RoundUp 8-22-2006

Veronica Mars season 2 is the must-buy for me! Also, FYE.com is offering Veronica Mars season 2 and Invasion season 1 at $39.99, but offers a $10 mail-in rebate on each title, taking them down to $29.99 each!

    Weekly RoundUp 8-15-2006

Absolutely. In fact, I saw it theatrically, myself. But a box set with both versions of AN and HOD just seems like a no-brainer. And the film turns 30 in three years, by which time there will almost certainly be a deluxe "anniversary edition" in whichever HD format wins the format war.

    Weekly RoundUp 8-15-2006

I agree that it's a great price, and quite tempting. But I am still sort of holding out hope that they will eventually release a package that will include "Hearts of Darkness," the brilliant documentary about the making of the film.

    Weekly RoundUp 8-15-2006

Man, I am tempted to grab some Bewitched and Northern Exposure, and to play catch-up on The Simpsons, but I'm really trying to cut back. Likewise, that Target Hong Kong Phooey price is quite tempting, but I may just wait on that, too. The "must buy" of the week, though, is The "Weird Al"...

    Weekly RoundUp 8-8-2006

Went by BB today, and was, indeed, able to get a PM on the titles I bought last week that went down to $3.99 today (for the record, those were Requiem For a Dream, SNL: Best of Christopher Walken, SNL: Best of Chris Farley and SNL: Best of John Belushi). Then I turned around and blew my $8...

    Weekly RoundUp 8-8-2006

Dag nab it! Those $3.99 titles at BB are the ones that were $5.99 last week, per my post. Anyone know whether BB will PM itself and refund me the difference? I bought 4 titles off that display lasy week! The $8 back would be enough to get two more! As to new stuff, I was going to hold off for...

    Weekly RoundUp 8-1-2006

Best Buy also has an unadvertised selection of Lionsgate titles at $5.99 this week, including SNL: Best of Christopher Walken, SNL: Best of John Belushi, SNL: Best of Chris Farley, SNL Best of Will Ferrell Vol. 2, The Punisher, High Tension, Requiem For a Dream (Director's Cut), American Psycho...

    Weekly RoundUp 8-1-2006

Sure hope you guys are wrong about "Wanda." Not only do I want it for myself, but I chose it as one of the week's top DVD picks in the paper this week; I'd hate to have been inaccurate (even though it's through no fault of my own). Also, it's already been pushed back once -- it was originally...

    Weekly RoundUp 8-1-2006

Bill, according to Amazon, the "A Fish Called Wanda" SE is still on the schedule for Tuesday. They have it at $16.99. I would be very interested in round-up prices on this title!

    Weekly RoundUp 8-1-2006

Thanks, Mike, for the extra info. The BB set looks nice, but I can't justify an extra $15 when Guy Fawkes masks were available at Comic-Con for around $3. I'm sticking with my pre-order. I can get a full-size movie poster for around $10, rather than one of those postcard-size ones...

    Weekly RoundUp 8-1-2006

Anyone else confused by the multiple editions of V for Vendetta? I get the 1-disc, 2-disc and Best Buy versions, but what is the "Deluxe Edition" at around $10? I preordered the 2-disc from Amazon, and I think that was the right way to go. Great catalog sales this week! Thanks for the...

    3/$25 again at Hollywood Video.

I've already pre-ordered "V For Vendetta" and am just waiting for tonight's round-up post to see whether I need to cancel it for a lower price elsewhere. One of the best movies of the year, despite taking major liberties with the original graphic novel.

    Weekly RoundUp 7-18-2006

Lots I want this week, but Brisco County and Jack of All Trades are the immediate must buys. Everything else will probably wait, since I'm going to San diego for Comic-Con this week. Real tempted to fill in the holes in my Simpsons collection with that BB sale, though... Bill, any interesting...

The Ongoing Wal-Mart $4.88/$5.50/$5.88 Bargain Bin Thread

Mike, those $3.88 titles hit stores something like a month ago, so they're not apt to be in large displays anymore, if available at all. I occasionally see a small selection on top of other displays or see one or more of the titles dumped into the generic discount bin (despite their lower...

    Weekly RoundUp 7-11-2006

Nope, that's next week, along with "Jack of All Trades: The Complete Series." It's going to be an expensive week to be a Bruce Campbell fan! I can't help but think that someone was very shrewd to put "Jack" out next week. Of course, pairing it with the "Brisco" release is a no-brainer, but...

    Weekly RoundUp 7-11-2006

Mike, seems to me I saw the Dante MOH in more than one Wal-Mart (where I picked it up on impulse). I wonder whether Wal-Mart has a window of exclusivity on the series or something. Either that, or the blew the on-sale in more than one store...

    Weekly RoundUp 7-11-2006

Erm... confused by the Dante Masters of Horror entry, "Homecoming," being listed as new for this week. I have a copy on my table in front of me, which I bought a little over a week ago. Did someone break the on-sale date and I just got lucky?

The Ongoing Wal-Mart $4.88/$5.50/$5.88 Bargain Bin Thread

Another new display of $4.88 Universal titles in Wally World today. I picked up Midnight Run and Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, both in OAR. I also saw (OAR unless otherwise noted): The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle Man on the Moon Josie & the Pussycats (edited and theatrical versions) The...

    Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

That's taking the rebate into consideration. FYE's $69.99, plus 7.5% local sales tax ($5.25), less rebate ($10), is $65.24. So at $64.99 plus no tax, Amazon comes in one shiny quarter cheaper. I've already ordered, and thanks to my AmazoPrime membership, I should have it tomorrow! :)

    Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Mike, per TV Shows on DVD, the rumor is that we'll see St. Elsewhere in the fall!
  26. J

    Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Thanks for the tip, Joe! Looks like FYE does charge tax, which puts Doctor Who at $65.24. However, Amazon's dropped their price to $64.99 today, so they come in cheapest of all, plus I have Amazon Prime, so I should get it before the end of the week! Off to place my order!

    Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Yeah, GND's not a bad little flick -- pretty funny, and it has a lot of heart. I picked up a copy, as well -- I'd been looking for a good price on it since I saw it as a rental last year.

Most Films An By Actor, Actress And Director In Your DVD Collection

Some quick back-of-the-envelope (literally!) calculation comes up with: ACTOR: Samuel L. Jackson with 10 titles (the three Star Wars films he's in, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol. 2, The Incredibles, Changing Lanes, True Romance and Unbreakable). Closest runners up each have 8...

    Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Worth noting that locally, Target has only been carrying the color versions of these, and not carrying them in the original B&W (Bewitched 3 was the first color season, Jenanie 2 was its first in color). I'm guessing that if you're a purist like me, you can get the B&W versions pricematched...

    Weekly RoundUp 7-4-2006

Lest anyone take this the way I did: It's only those specific seasons on sale, not all seasons inclusive. As such, I just picked up season 1 of In Living Color; I may go back for 5 and fill in the hole when a good price comes along. Also noted that BB locally was already sold out of their...
