Will is absolutely right about this sync issue. Like DVD Beaver, I reviewed it online as well but didn't make mention of it because I thought I was either imagining it (I know that sounds weird) or perhaps it was my fps setting. I noticed it in some scenes more than others, but I'm glad Will...
Since Italian is on the menu at the moment, I would love to see a Blu-ray of Renato Polselli's THE VAMPIRE AND THE BALLERINA (1960) which is owned by MGM but is in need of an HD transfer. It was never on home video in this country.
MisterLime, in terms of MGM acquisitions, any chance of Kino releasing BLOOD AND LACE, since Scream Factory keeps telling me they "can't get their mitts on it"? This was never on VHS or DVD in its own country! Also, any chance for THE INCREDIBLE TWO-HEADED TRANSPLANT (MGM has an HD master...
I showed an original 35mm print of FROGS at my annual drive-in event last September, and it was the quicksand scene that was present. Drive-In Super Monster-Rama, Sept. 11-12, 2009 at the Riverside Drive-In, Vandergrift, PA
I don't know any titles, but I've been told there are only rehashed horror titles (all stuff that's already available, but possibly repackaged) and no new-to-DVD titles. Let's hope the so-called Halloween schedule was still in its early stages and they'll add more (or listen to our requests) but...
Unfortunetely, it looks like rehashes are all we're gonna get this Halloween unless they actually listen to us and do a quick turnaraound. MGM/Fox is far, and I mean far from exhausting their library for horror and all other genres.
Fox is very much calling shots, and they recently requested new DVD transfers of several MGM titles mentioned here in this thread, showing specific interest in one in particular, but has since failed to get it on the DVD release schedule. As it stands now, their MGM Halloween DVD schedule is...
Fox (the ones keeping the bulk of the MGM back catalog hostage), please take note of this recent quote concerning the Warner Brothers Archive Collection: “The launch of Warner Archive exceeded our wildest expectations,” said George Feltenstein. “We’ve had such a tremendous response to this...
I miss those days too, but sadly as it stands, MGM's current 2009 Halloween schedule is reportedly nothing more than a bunch of rehashed stuff (and same transfers), I imagine much like the recent genre box sets they announced with titles everyone already owns. A reliable press contact even told...
It looks like we're going to have to ask really, really hard. I asked a reliable press contact today if we were going to get any Midnite Movies or classic horror on DVD for Halloween from MGM, and the reply was simply, "nothing on the horizon."
Many of the titles I mentioned have shown up on cable TV in new MGM transfers in recent years. Not sure if they would use the same transfers for the imaginary DVDs that will never come out, but they do have the elements on most I'm sure. HORROR HOUSE was just on TCM Underground.
Still even plenty more they need to release, off hand I can think of: BLOOD AND LACE REVENGE OF THE ZOMBIES (Monogram) THE NEANDERTHAL MAN HOROR HOUSE (HAUNTED HOUSE OF HORROR) OLD DRACULA (VAMPIRA) DAUGHTERS OF SATAN UNHOLY ROLLERS THE EVICTORS FUTUREWORLD HOUSE OF A 1000 DOLLS...
From Video Business Online: Navarre shuts down BCI Elipse Corporation looks to reduce costs due to recession By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 12/17/2008 DEC. 17 | Navarre Corp. is shutting down the primary licensing operations of its in-house label BCI Eclipse in order to reduce costs in...
MELTING MAN and MONSTER DOG both have been showing up on Monsters HD, both with new MGM transfers. I caught the entire MELTING MAN at a friend's house, and it looks terrific, so it's just crying for a superior region 1 release. I haven't seen MONSTER DOG, but I'm a big Alice Cooper fan, so I've...
