Mr. Harris, I have a few quick questions regarding the highly anticipated September release of The Godfather trilogy. I do not believe any of these topics have been discussed on the forum yet - my apologies if they have been covered. Regarding extra/deleted scenes - Were these part of the...
Hi, I'm looking to replace a set of Bose 601 Series IV Speakers and add surround speakers. I'm honestly overwhelmed by the choices available but have bookmarked the speakers below - although they are a bit more than I wanted to spend. Recommendations Please...
I don't think of John Deacon when I think of 'big time' bass players. That's reserved for the likes of John Entwhistle, John Paul Jones or Jack Bruce, IMO. I find it interesting, and surprising, that Queen is so much bigger in the UK than Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones. Might it have...
Aaron, I've never been a big fan of Live After Death. I'd rank Beast Over Hammersmith (from Eddie's Archive) a lot higher. Anyhow, 6 through 10 of my top live albums would be: Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East The Rolling Stones - Get Yer Ya Yas Out Thin Lizzy - Live And Dangerous...
Great dvd set. Two thoughts: 1) I would have liked more live material from the 1975/Alive! era. 2) It's pretty obvious that they had already lost the 'hunger' (or at least were not as hungry) by 1977 as they were a year or two prior.
Studio: Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin IV The Rolling Stones – Sticky Fingers The Who – Who’s Next Pink Floyd – Animals Yes – Fragile Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath The Beatles - Revolver Led Zeppelin – Physical Graffiti Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Déjà vu The Jimi Hendrix...
I think we are all on the same page. Like Aaron said, Megadeth's albums are more accessible than Slayer's, in fact a few of them really can't be classified as 'thrash' or 'speed' metal. I also think the fact that Mustaine has never let go of the Metallica connection has had at least a...
Yup, Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer rotated positions each night on that tour. There was no set headliner. Without actually admitting it, members of Anthrax and Megadeth have alluded to being topped, nightly, by Slayer.
I saw Slayer live 10 times between 1986 and 2003 and they were incredible each and every time. I can't think of another metal band, except Black Sabbath or Judas Priest in their primes, who Slayer wouldn't blow off the stage. Their new album (Christ Illusion) is pretty good. Not nearly as...
I've really lost intereset in Dream Theater is the last few years. Octavarium was very week, IMO and Train Of Thought was only so so. I also never watch the Budokan DVD anymore, which I feel is a very flat and uninspiring performance. Scenes From A Memory was a progressive rock masterpiece, it...
Neil Turbin was the original singer and sang on their first release - Fist Full Of Metal - so it's not actually the 'original' line-up, just the most popular. Typical gimmicky stuff from the Anthrax camp. I used to like them a lot in the mid 80's but, pretty much lost interest after they put out...
I agree with Iron Maiden and Rush and would add just about everything off the first few Black Sabbath albums and Whipping Post by The Allman Brothers Band!!
Iron Maiden was my first concert!!! 1984 in Connecticut (Powerslave Tour). Can't say I have a huge Maiden collection as I'm not too fond of much post Powerslave, although they were superb live recently (NYC/MSG 2003) I have the first 5 cds (newer remasters), Iron Maiden & Killers (2cd Castle...
Unlike many other bands, Led Zeppelin is timeless and their music never grows old. Indeed, there will never be another Led Zeppelin, or The Who, Beatles, Stones.............
I agree with Manus. Although not a new band. I just got into Porcupine Tree this year. In Absentia and Deadwing are both very good, and a nice balance to Dream Theater's disappointing Octavarium.
Rumour has it that Rhino will remaster Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules somewhere down the road. They already did a terrific job with the Black Box - the remasters of the first 8 Sabbath cds.
Arthur, I have no problem NOT supporting anything Ozzy related or Black Label Society as Ozzy, aside from some great reunion shows with Black Sabbath, hasn't done anything even remotely interesting since 1982 and I have zero interest in BLS's knucklehead metal. Sharon is total white trash...
Blackmore - Rainbow - Stargazer Page - Led Zeppelin - Dazed And Confused Hendrix - just about everything. All Along The Watchtower & Spanish Castle Magic Magic for starters Roeser - Blue Oyster Cult - Astronomy Schenker - UFO - Lights Out
http://eddietrunk.com/news/article.php?news_id=1894 This remaster is long, long overdue. Holy Diver easily makes my list of top 10 heavy metal albums of all time. This one is superb from start to finish!!
Rhino is releasing a 4cd deluxe edition of Chicago IV (Live at Carnegie Hall) on 8/23/05 and a remaster of Chicago IX (Geatest Hits 69-74) on 10/4/05. I'll be picking up both gems!!
