    Watching PAL videos

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Unfortunately, I've come into possession of some PAL VHS tapes, not DVDs. I've got a region-free DVD player, so that would be no problem, but my dern video tapes won't FIT in it!

    Watching PAL videos

Hopefully I'm asking this in the right spot. What's the best and/or easiest way(s) to view PAL VHS tapes in North America?

Dallas : How many seasons will W.B. Release??

My biggest worry is how they handle the packaging of the Dream Season. Obviously this is a major spoiler for new fans of the show who have no clue what happens, but despite this, I really can't see WB resisting the chance to plaster "DREAM SEASON: The season that's all a DREAM!" all over the...

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

Yes, we definitely don't agree then, Mark. I believe that the ONLY requirement of the studios is to release EVERY episode COMPLETE. Bonus materials aren't a requirement, trailers aren't a requirement, Dolby 5.1 isn't a requirement, anamorphic transfers, heck even non-grainy transfers aren't a...

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

I have Mad About You S1 and plan to get S2 eventually. I also have Twin Peaks S1 and The Larry Sanders Show S1. This is a different situation because they didn't start with S2. With these shows I can buy S1 and have hope that they'll come with subsequent seasons later on. Look at Once and Again...

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

But the thing is, uncut episodes are expected of the studios. True fans of any series will always put up a fuss when their favorite show isn’t released uncut. Most studios today know this, or if they don’t they’re quickly realizing that what fans want is what originally aired on TV. If it is...

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

Yes, I do need all of them for it to "work." :) Being a completist, that is. I buy full series of shows even if there are a couple seasons I can't stand or will never watch more than once. I have movie sequels that I hate, just because I like the original. So of course the reverse is going to be...

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

If someone was putting tires on your car and he ended up cutting up the first one, would you let him continue putting the other three on? Even if it was an accident? Even if he promised he’d learned his mistake and it wouldn’t happen again? Perhaps, you might. But you’d probably hold him...

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

I agree 100%. And I'm not going to just have S2-9 of Roseanne. That would look silly on my shelf. So, since I refuse to buy a cut S1, I won't be buying the subsequent seasons. If S1 is rereleased uncut, I will go back and buy the others.

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

Well, unless they rerelease S1 uncut, it's still irrelevant for me. I'm not going to buy S2-9 of Roseanne or S2-8 of Cosby without S1. And I absolutely refuse to buy S1 of either show with cut episodes. It seems the battle may be half over, but I won't be satisfied until both first season sets...

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

Even if they do, it still doesn't excuse them for releasing seasons 1 like that. I'm still going to demand the RErelease Season 1 uncut. Hail it as a "Super Special Extended Edition" or whatever they need to do, but goddammit I want the first season of Roseanne uncut on DVD! It's my favorite...

Anchor Bay Press Release: Roseanne: Season One

I grew up watching the syndicated episodes of the show and especially saw the first season many times because I'd managed to tape them all. One channel here in Canada actually used to show the originally aired versions of the episodes and I managed to tape them too. Actually, they cut stuff out...

Why are syndicated episodes so bad?

I think the issue isn't so much that we'd rather have no show than an edited show, but rather that if we give in to studios releasing these shoddy sets, they're not going to think twice about releasing shows like that in the future. If the consumers don't care (or worse, don't KNOW) then the...

EARTH 2 (Street Date 7/19/05) (contains spoilers)

As I said earlier, the yellow sky was in the original broadcast, I checked. Check the "Previously..." for episode two and you'll see it's there, too. It's even yellow on the box art!

EARTH 2 (Street Date 7/19/05) (contains spoilers)

The yellow sky was in the original broadcast. I don't know if this was done in post-production or if it's some anomoly of the New Mexico sky. You can tell it's not a DVD error because it can also be seen in the "Previously..." for episode 2.
