I'm with you on this. I might buy the cartoons but what I really want is the three Gilligan's Island reunion movies. I have a cheap-o public domain copy of rescue from gilligan's island but would like to see a release in better quality.
I have bought the public domain cheapo RFGI DVD and as others have said the quality is terrible. Being old enough to remember when it actually aired, I found that I was able to watch it and enjoy it. Having said that I would gladly pay 20 bucks for a collection of the 3 reunion movies if they...
Count me in for Gilligan's Island reunion films especially. This would seem like a no-brainer to me. Must be another "rights" problem. Would like to see Dusty's Trail as well. Not as sure about the animated shows, but would be nice if they were available.
It's too bad there isn't so much interest in the show. I really like it and have watched it since day 1, but it doesn't make it to where I would buy it on DVD. I would recommend it to anyone, but I really only buy "classic" shows (ie they are not aired anymore.)
I am looking forward to this release as well. I wish more of the studios would release the "reunion" movies of all their classic shows on DVD. I would especially like to see the 3 Gilligan's Island reuinion movies done up this way.
1) price. No matter how much I want to see something, if it's priced outrageously I will not be buying it. ($30 max for a one season set) 2)rarity/ scarcity. Is the show still airing on TV where I can watch for free? Has the show aired in the last 10 years? 3)Nostalgia. A high percentage of...
So those sets I have seen in Best Buy aren't authorized? I have an old bootleg and was wondering if a set with better picture quality had been released.
1) TOS - This show looks awesome on DVD 2) DS9- The update of Star Trek that really got it right 3) TNG- Just a little too PC HUGE DROPOFF 4) Enterprise- at least a different look and vibe but doesn't feel like Star Trek until Season 4. 5) Voyager- combines the worst elements of DS9 and TNG...
I'm with you on this one. Hardly an upgrade if this is just a "slipcase". I want those (remastered) movies on DVD! And there's a lot of easily available extra content that could be thrown in to sweeten the pot. There was a late night talk show that had the last group appearance of most of the...
I don't want to see any of the episodes featuring "he who shall remain nameless" , but I have actually met a few people who like the little talking head. I was disappointed with the release of the "Scooby movies" as they only put out a best of set. Has the series been released with Scooby Dum...
I understand them leaving out the extra show-fillers like Commander McBragg and Go-Go Gophers (even though those shorts were fantastic on their own merit) as the studio is always looking to give you as little as possible. But re-editing the Underdog segments into one program? That is heresy! I...
I remember seeing the show when it premiered and not caring for it. Then, I discovered it again during season 2 when it aired at 3am after arriving home from work. I won't lie to you and say that the show is great, but it is interesting at times although it helps if you can watch it with friends...
This show was a victim of scheduling and its time slot. I hate to see it cancelled as it was well made and thought provoking. People complain that all that is on are CSI and Law and Order spin-offs. Yet several good shows are once again cast aside. Perhaps the previous poster who blamed CBS for...
Scooby Doobies, Yogi Yahooies, Really Rottens (Boo!Hiss!) The magnificent competitors of saturday morning's greatest athletic exhibition. Laff-a-Lympics is the Hanna-Barbera series I would like to revisit the most.
I think that Star Trek: The Next Generation owes more of its inspiration to the original Star Trek TV series than STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE. Its getting green-lighted might have been helped by the success of the movie franchise, but that movie was one of the first examples of successful...
Wasn't the original post about SUCCESSFUL tv shows based on movies? A lot of the shows mentioned here aired only partial seasons, hardly what could be considered "successful" unless your definition is getting the show made at all.
I remember a lot of superfriends "crafts" as well. Like making a fake telescope out of spools of thread. Has anything like that, or the PSAs been included on any of the older Superfriends sets? Nice extras if they are.
Count me in for the Live-action Shazam (It should have been released around the same time as its sister series, Isis) and the 80s Ruby-Spears Superman (This was cancelled really quickly despite some realy good episodes).
These kind of books are well and good for the die-hard Trek fan (of which I number myself) but anything in these novels is not part of Star Trek "canon" so until it is seen, or referred to, on screen it never really happened. It is a shame though as Season 4 of Enterprise seemed on the brink of...
I watched the show when it originally aired and always had a kind of "take it or leave it" attitude. Season four was a true revelation for the show, as it at last cashed in on some of the prequel goodness that comes from being part of the Star Trek universe. I have been watching the re-runs in...
