I have the 602 that has the same setting.Leave it at 0 , which where mine is at.That setting is for the LFE on DD/DTS only.On a DD soundtrack the LFE is boosted by 10db so you are correct RobertBritton.
Above those frequencies will go to the other speakers and below them will go to your sub. The setting is governed by the bass response of the speakers. For example if the -3 point of the speaker is 80HZ then 100HZ would be a good choice.
As an owner of the HSU Ventiloquist I agree with Alon Goldberg 110%. Even with the STF-1 sub they would put the Bose to absolute shame. You can get both as a package for only $500.
The 15WPC difference is meaningless, you will not hear it. Pick the one that has the connections and features that suit your needs best. Personally, I would be biased towards the Denon.
I really do not think you will hear any difference especially since you are using a digital connection. We listen with our ears, not oscilloscopes or other test instruments in a lab.
Dave Alan,do you have some kind of personal vendetta against SVS? Secondly, what qualifies you to claim that your general understanding of sub design may exceed Ron's ? Post for all to see.
Since CC is fixing the Sony sub go ahead and use it.It is true Sony is not known for speakers but the SA-WX 700 (which I own) is not a bad sub.It uses the Push-Pull configuration like M&K subs.Do some research and you will see that.I like mine also.Do not let someones incorrect opinion mis-lead...
Reading your post it sounds like you have all the speakers set as large. When you do get everything fixed set all speakers to small and calibrate your system with a sound level meter and test tones. You just learned what happens when equipment is pushed beyond its limits.
The 3802 is an excellent receiver, not to worry.S-Video is much better than composite.Right now most A/V receivers still have only 3 component inputs.Yes the component output on the receiver goes to your monitor.
I use 2 of the SA-WX700 with the HSU Ventriloquist VT-12 and my Onkyo 602 receiver.Using my Delos surround setup CD's I get usable response down to around 26hz in my room. Not bad for a pair of subs that cost less than $500.
