I'll second that. Most of the time having the TV speakers on will ruin the imaging not to mention they probably wont sound as good as the other speakers. If you really want to do it you just need to make sure you send audio to the TV as well as the surround system.
Hi all I'm trying to start an inexpensive "home theatre" for my parents. I would love to get them a pair of Ascend Acoustics 170SEs but I really should not spend that much money. I have money at the moment but I am currently out of work so I'm trying to get the best I can for the money. Any...
A local retailer has a used pioneer vsx-850s for $100 it decodes Dolby Digital and DTS (the 5.1 incarnations of each) and when new sold for around $650. Do you think this would be a good start for my parents? Any comments on that receiver?
For 1080P under $3000 I think you do not have any DLP or LCOS options. The 3 LCD Panasonic PT-AE2000E is probably what I would buy. I'm pretty sure the Sony is well over $3000 as well. The JVC is probably worth the extra money if you can swing it.
With some 720p projectors under $1000 now I don't see why one wouldn't go for one of those. They are built for home theatre applications. Look for some reviews.
It depends on what your needs are but I prefer DLP over LCD. It has better contrast and is less expensive per inch. I would take the mits even if they were the same price. Both brands make very nice TVs. Just spend some time in the store watching the DLP to make sure you dont see the rainbow...
I like the paradigm signatures a lot but I also demoed them in a treated room so that might have had a lot to do with how amazing they were. I own Ascend 170-SEs.
For around $500ish you could get a decent 2.1 system and add the surrounds later. I personally would rather have good 2.1 that mediocre surround. A good 2 channel system can do a lot for a movie.
41.2hz actually on a 5 string the low B is about 30.9hz the lowest A on the piano is 27.5hz I figure a "flat" response to 25hz is plenty for music unless, of course, you listen to pipe organs.
At that price point in a room that large to me your best options seem to be DIY or the HSU VTF3-HO. If you can stretch it enough the SVS PB-13 ultra would be even better.
I have the STF-2. This thing is amazing for the price. I don't know if SVS has anything in that price range but they may be worth checking out as well.
Check out the new Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1. It isnt full range in the strictest sense but will easily go below 40Hz in most rooms. Additionally they are supposed to be amazing for the price. I have a less expensive Ascend Acoustics model and I can vouch for the quality of their products.
So, if the efficiency is high but the sensitivity is low where is the left over energy going? According to the information above it cannot go into heat since that is related to efficiency. It has to go somewhere.
He didn't seem to care about HDMI and I've found it to appear to be more powerful than indicated. I do not have experience with JVC so I cannot comment on it merits. I've found the XR-57 to be a very good inexpenisve basic reciever.
If your room isnt going to be huge look into Ascend Acoustics Sierras for speakers and checkout HSU and SVS for subs. Again, there is a lot of preference when it comes to speakers. Just make sure you listen to them before commiting. You might find a speaker you like for half the price of one you...
Its not just Sams, most stores do a serious disservice to themselves by the way the display their TVs. A bad signal will make any TV look bad. I love it when they hook a crappy DVD player up to a $4000 TV. What are they thinking?
What does Jesus have to do with S-video? IMO it is time for the 55" to be replaced. I know, sad, but if it only has S-vid it has to be old and a new TV, especially if it is HD, will make more of a difference than anything else.
I have speakers from ascend acoustics and I have not once heard better speakers in any store except specilized AV stores and they are always much more money than I paid for mine. Needless to say I am very happy with them.
