I got around the region code by copying the disc and streaming it, I am happy to report (I Guess) that it is the same.
as the Japanese 4k version and does have English subtitles. The Japanese version doesn't have any advantage other.
than no region code problems and a short still file and much...
I don't know about the Italian 4k but the Excellent Japanese 4k disc is not the same as the last Blu Ray that came out here (Not the new BR) I did easily prefer the 4k disc, but I did prefer some of the color on the original BR ,I ordered the Italian.
4k disc, and wonder if that's the same as...
I wonder what is faded and what are the choices made in the transfer, "Days of Heaven" for example looked better on DVD and Blu Ray(and 4k) for sure ,but there are shots on the original Laser disc I remember having more color, When the First dvd came out (and all releases up to the 4k version)...
I have trouble with the hdr on Days of Heaven 4K disc ,the image on my Sony tv played by my hdr pan br player was too dark, when I switched
to my Sony br player without hdr ,the darkness problem went away
?? I played other hdr discs and they looked fine,
I got a real 4k version from Japan ,it has no English subtitles, you have to add them, but overall, it's the best version.
Maybe if Criterion wasn't so blind to Bertolucci we might have an even better version.
You don't mention aspect ratio. Since the IMAX screen is not 16x9 I fought most of IMAX scenes looked fantastic.
in the theatre But I can't say the same for the 2.35:1 stuff They were mixed.
I heard that only the 4k disc had 2 different aspect ratios, is this true?
While it's nice having this in 4k,I don't understand why its color is different than the Blue Ray, which isn't perfect and Grainey.
But it seems to be more colorful. The shot of wagon near the Dairy Queen has a sign with green on it on the Blu Ray,but on the 4k version its black ,while overall...
I am happy to report, that I got the Japanese 4k version of this today, and dosn't have the "Too Dark" look of the
Arrow version, this new disc isn't as bright as the Japanese BR version but looks fantastic.
After doing a side-by-side comparison with old Blu Ray for the whole film , this Japanese 4k version is darker than that version, and while its overall better, there are some things about the earlier Blu Ray which are better. Unlike The last 4k Last emperor which was too dark
I don't know which...
Watching the 4k disc its clear some scenes have always looked Grainey (in all versions on video and in theatre), the new Japanese disc is an improvement over the Old Blu Ray Its sharper, and the color is the same, the Film never had the fresh negative look of the spider's stratagem (in the...
And I am the only one who has Japanese Blu Ray,so If you don't know what that looks like,of course there a few spots where the arrow disc does look better than that older Japanese version, but not overall Maybe this new Japanese version will be worth getting, but there's no way of knowing.
I guess this is great news ,but it seems like Criterion is going the cheap route,no new extras ,no new art or Booklet
just a new disc in an old Package I would love some new extras like the lost extra feature the still file!
