    55" CRT RPTV vs. 52" D-ila RPTV...my impressions so far :^)

Dan, did you happen to order your JVC online? I'm looking to buy the JVC hd-ila 70". The only problem is I can't seem to find anyone that carries it in my area. I saw that they have it at TV Authority. I may order it from them but, I have never ordered a tv online so to me it seems kind of...

Safe to run satellites without sub?

Hello guys, I have a quick question. Is it safe to run satellites without a sub? I have a velodyne CHT 5 piece speaker set. They have 4 1/2" midrange and a 1" tweeter. I won't be getting my sub for a couple of more weeks. I was wanting to get everything hooked up and wanted to make sure I won't...

    Seeking online purchase advice

Well, I go to order my receiver yesterday and find out it is out of stock and that they won't have any more in for a couple of weeks.:frowning: The receiver I'm getting is the Pioneer Elite 56txi. Anyway, after surfing the internet, I found that Elegant audio video and Dynaco has some smoking...

After 2 weeks.... Finally pulling the trigger.

Well, I've been listening to different receivers over the past 2 weeks. I auditioned Pioneer Elite, Denon, HK, Yamaha, and Onkyo Integra. I've decided to bite the bullet and get the Pioneer Elite 56txi. The Pioneer seemed to have the best sound of them all and this receiver has some serious...

Need some help choosing a receiver

The speaker setup I will be using is the Velodyne CHT speaker system. I got a great deal on them directly from velodyne. Aaron Smithski has them hooked up to a parasound 170 wpc amp and he said they crank and ask for more. I can always upgrade them later. I will also be running a SVS sub. I want...

Need some help choosing a receiver

Thanks for all the advice.:) However, Iam still undecided on which one to pick. I went and did some more testing last night and I have ruled out the Onkyo 702. I also listened to the Denon 3805 and it sounded really good. So now I'm thinking about throwing the Denon in the mix. Anyone own this...

Need some help choosing a receiver

I've been looking at receivers at my local audio shops for the last couple of days and I need some help picking one. Here is what I'm looking at. Yamaha rx-v2500, Pioneer Elite 54tx, HK 635, and Onkyo 702. What is the better one out of these? I like the HK but was concerned about their QC...

Sub decision: $150 and below category (Help me make best choice!)

Well, if it were me I would probably get the infinity especially for that price. Seems like a real good deal. But, then again Iam new to this and from what I've heard the dayton is a very good budget sub as well. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Just my .02 cents.

Question for Aaron Smithski about Velodyne CHT 5 speaker system

Thanks Aaron. I went ahead and ordered them. The price was too good to pass up. I will post back once I get everything hooked up. Probably be about another month though before I have the funds for my sub. (SVS pb12+2).:D Thanks again.

Question for Aaron Smithski about Velodyne CHT 5 speaker system

I was reading an older post and was wondering what sub are you running with these? I have read one favorable review and they sound almost too good to be true. Also, how big of a room are you running them in? I checked them out on velodynes website and see that they have them on special right...

What do you think of this setup?

Thanks for the advice phil. The fluance speakers wasn't a set in stone deal, just an option I was kind of kicking around. I'm new to this so that's why I wanted to see what you guys thought before I made my purchase. However, the SVS is a set in stone deal and I'm getting it, just wish I didn't...

What do you think of this setup?

I'll be running a pioneer 1014 and this will be 100% for movies.

What do you think of this setup?

I'm thinking about getting 5 Fluance SV-6 bookshelfs to use as my mains, center, and surrounds and going with an SVS pb 12 plus 2. I was going to go with a JBL setup (e100, ec35, e10) with an SVS pb10. Well, after thinking it over, I just don't think the pb10 will be enough for my room and leave...

Newbie to HT with some questions

I could squeeze out another $49 but it's not going to happen due to the WAF. She has already seen the cylinder subs and doesn't like the "water heater" look. Thinks they are butt ugly. She wants something that will kind of blend in with our furniture. If I do end up getting the pb 10, I will get...

Newbie to HT with some questions

I'm putting together my first system and I think I'm going to go with JBL e100 for fronts, ec35 center, and e10 for surrounds. The problem I have is I don't know what sub I should go with. I have $500 max for the sub. I was thinking about going with a SVS pb 10 but I don't know if that would be...
