Oh I know and that's awesome news, however using the words silents/ pipeline/ forthcoming/Feltenstein in the HTF search function I had found similar statements/promises in threads dating back to 2022, 2014, 2012. Hence my post.

Well we do have control over what we buy, which I am sure is taken into account by someone at WarnerArchive, which brings me to what I think is the key issue. If The Boob/Why Be Good blu-ray garners poor reviews here and on Amazon, etc., then at the end of the year we may read or hear "Well if...

Kino-Lorber Insider Announcement Thread (Read Guidelines Post #3)

All I remember about Little Buddha, which I saw in the theaters, was that it caused an epic pre-social media rant by then movie star Charlie Sheen about "what does everyone including Bertolucci - Bertolucci! - see in Keannu Reeves." Oh the Little Buddha cinematography was quite beautiful as well.

I guess the issue is that for most of us, it *was* a simple matter to see everything we wanted get released. When vhs, laser disc and then dvds came out, huge amounts of films were liberated from the vaults on a weekly basis in box sets, looking better then ever. While those days are definitely...

Press Release Warner Archive Collection Press Release: The Boob (1926) and Why Be Good (1929) (Blu-ray Double Feature)

On another forum, one that's devoted to silent films, the excitement about this double feature was more, uh, muted than expected. The comments began with "The Boob is easily one of the worst silent features ever made" lol. While I am eager to see the reviews, I am still buying this just because...

Wow I have been waiting for Starting Over for years and was hoping this would eventually be released by KinoLorber. Definitely a Day One purchase for me.

Press Release Warner Archive Collection Press Release: They Drive By Night (1940) (Blu-ray)

I thought this was a Criterion title as well, and when I could not find it I googled "Criterion" and "Bogart" which made me realize I got it confused with High Sierra.

It's interesting that they list the silent films separately on the cover but sort of hide the great news that 3 Godfathers includes the 1936 version as a bonus. Either way these releases are the two must-buys for me.

Every month we go through a Groundhogs Day collection of posts asking when (or if) WarnerArchive will announce new releases. Meanwhile 15 minutes ago another home video company announced on Twitter they'll be making their May release announcements with the day, date and time (with 3 timezones...

Crawdaddy's "Random Thoughts" about Home Video, Film & TV

YouTube has an essential 1971 Dick Cavett interview with Veronica Lake and William Saroyan. Her early demise is a tragedy, but even more so when one sees the interview. She's smart, sharp - and this was the most surprising - incredibly modern. I am so used to seeing aging Hollywood stars from...

International Pre-Order Columbia Noir #6: The Whistler (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

The Museum of Modern Art had a retrospective of all the Whistler films about 10 years ago. Having seen only 2 of them back then, I can see why Indicator has given them such a deluxe treatment. The two films I saw were entertaining, fast-moving examples of vintage 1940's black and white "B"...

Blu-ray Review A Few Words About A few words about…™ Run Silent, Run Deep, The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming, and Coming Home (all redux) – in Blu-ray

Somehow I never upgraded Run Silent, Run Deep or The Russians are Coming from dvd, so these are both must-buys for me, along with the Witness For The Prosecution upgrade. I have the blu-ray, but I will upgrade just for the new Joseph McBride audio commentary.

Warner DVD's not working thread - watch to make sure they still play

I learned from this thread that the "Made In Mexico" stamp on the packaging was a sign the dvds were not from the impacted factory/plant. l only found the Complete Hepburn/Tracy box set to be "Made In Mexico", ironically most of those I have on blu-ray. I am at the point where I may just toss...

    General Discussion Jonathan Majors arrested!

Everything detailed in the "new" story in The New York Times was rumored and discussed for years. A blind item was tweeted out on Valentine's Day 2023 about "a particular actor, relatively new on the scene" describing the person as "a vicious, cruel abusive human being." Ironically, people...

In any case we know, that's been established. WB has ownership of those films on the *separate* MGM and Warner Brothers lists.

We know. However if you refer to the original (still uncorrected) list you will see the films are separated by the original studio that released them. Hence Julius Caesar = MGM, not Warner Brothers.

Julius Caesar, which is also one of my most anticipated titles, is an MGM film, not a Warner Bros film.

Press Release Criterion Press Release: Dogfight (1991) (Blu-ray)

DOGFIGHT is a terrific, very affecting film. It is both memorable and bittersweet in many ways, due in no small part to it being one of the better films in the sadly brief career of River Phoenix. I like the extras - especially the new interviews. I am really looking forward to getting this...

The one Esther Williams film I'd love to see on bluray is Duchess Of Idaho. I watched it a few years ago and it was unexpectedly very funny. The Technicolor would look amazing on bluray. It has been years since I read Maria Riva's biography of her Mother, Marlene Dietrich, but as I recall Marlene came back from seeing the original production of South Pacific appalled about that number. Oh this is one I am excited to see, it's definitely a day one purchase. It has been decades since I have see Blood On The Sun but I remember it to be a really enjoyable wartime thriller. Both James Cagney and Sylvia Sidney were in top form, and Sylvia, who looked especially great in 1940's...

These WarnerArchive January releases are such a great way to start the year. The Prince And The Pauper, Cabin In The Sky and A Day At The Races are all must-haves; however the pre-code Faithless starring the somewhat neglected Robert Montgomery is the one I am most interested in acquiring.
