I just put the 'blu case' as part of the spine design, so that when I look at my shelf, it looks consistent. So yeah, intentional optical illusion.
Hopefully most of the remaining DVDs will eventually have Blu-Ray releases

I can't comment on the Yogi Bear release,
But I can say that the inserts for Cabin In The Sky and A Day At The Races were on a slightly heavier paper stock than WAC had used in the past few years.
It seems that it will address the 'wrinkly' complaints from that these releases were getting
I pre-ordered several January 30th WAC titles from Bullmoose.
The charged my card today (Jan 26) as they shipped the titles.
All my prior orders were charged as part of the Ship process.
