I bought the Toshiba upconverting dvd player two weeks ago and have been fairly impressed with the picture that I get on my 50" Sony LCD using the HDMI cable that comes included with the player. I picked it up at my local HH Gregg for $120.

Thanks for your replies. It is worth it to me to spend some money to get the best picture I can. Does anyone have any suggestions on a player with HDMI hookups. There doesn't seem to be to many out there right now.

I am a newbie who just recently bought a 50" Sony LCD rptv and had hd cable hooked up about a week ago. I have a old (1998) RCA DVD player with s video hook up and noticed that the picture looks sub standard after watching an hd channel. Will upgrading to a new dvd player make a big difference...
