About the questions. Allow me to post some links, I've found very helpful.
I love the themes and the symbolism throughout, some won't, but I believe this has never intended to be "just" a mainstream movie. This is a movie that raises questions and the answers are to come.

As a reviewer, I had the task of seeing the movie in all 3D formats and I must say, the differences speaks volumes.
First view, was a Real D theater. I have never seen anything as bad as this. I litteraly thought the events in the storm were filmed vertical and not horisontal. It was a pure 1/6...
I've almost seen all the movies for 2011, that I've "scheduled", but I'm embarrassed to say, that I have yet to see this. Always loved Allen in front of the camera, but a little less so, when he is behind it. Though he has picked up the pace and I've certainly only heard good things about...
The director has the last word, that's for sure But still I'd chip in a word or two, should I believe that the transfer lacks in quality compared to what is possible to achieve.
Seeing that there is such prominent details inherent in the transfer of Apocalypse Now, that the HBO...
The Longest Day Spartacus Escape From New York Patton I can't use the Tier ratings on AVSForum. Placing Django from Blue Underground as a 4.5 rating and BU continues to deliver impeccably good transfers with great depth, colors and the original grain preserved. It makes no sense. I...
Sorry, if these images has already been posted. But the difference in detail from, what should be the HBO HDTV showing of an old redux transfer, compared to the blu-ray release, stuns me. There is abundant detail in the HBO shot below and the BD shot looks Patton like in comparison...
Does this "new look" represent the original theatrical look? I actually don't remember the movie looking anything like this in the intro sequence (talking about The Shire green cast comparison clip on Youtube).

My favourite Clint Eastwood western movie. Orson Welles: "I suppose Clint Eastwood is the most underrated director in the world today...They don't take him seriously...an actor like Eastwood is such a pure type of mythic hero-star in the Wayne tradition that no one is going to take him...
I ordered an X9 (RS60) in november. Got an X7 temporary while waiting on the X9 in january. I came from a JVC HD1 and thought the leap to the X7 was quite huge. Better colors out of the box, excellent black level and satisfying sharpness (i have a total light controlled room). When I got...
On my most wanted list!!! Just below Mad Men as my top series ever. Those two, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Carnivale, Sons of Anarcy and Life on Mars (UK) are best series in last decade.
1. Alien 2. Vertigo 3. 2001 - A Space Odyssey 4. Il Conseguenze dell'amore 5. Double Indemnity 6. La Dolce Vita 7. There Will Be Blood 8. L'Armée des Ombres (Army of Shadows) 9. The Third Man 10. Sunset Boulevard 11. Mulholland Drive 12. Seven Samurai...
A few questions for mr. Harris, should he follow the thread. I understand that Avatar is filmed digital with 2.2K cameras for each picture in RGB. Upon closer expection of images from Avatar it seems as if the level of detail is more outstanding in the animated/digital post processed part...
I was wondering if anyone have heard about coming BD releases of
Barry Lyndon, The Duelists or 1492 or if they have been shown in a HDTV broadcast?
And how about movies from Tarkovsky?
Great read this thread. If your thesis ever gets available for the public to read, please post a hint. I would love to read it and learn about the subject.
Good luck!
If a movie is recorded in 3D, then you watch 2 times 2D pictures, one for each eye, giving you the illusion of watching it from the center. But now that it is in 2D, what picture do one really watch? The right or left eye picture and ... thus you will feel slightly adjusted to the left or right?

I read it. Which is why I speculate why and how to make newer masters inferior to an earlier HDTV broadcast in video quality. I'm not sure how succesful MPG2 artifacts can be portraying film grain and even have the positive characteristic of retaining detail, but that sure looks to be the...
Nope! Why should one start to believe to see something else, that ones eyes tell you? I haven't tried to fool myself before (well maybe, but that's another subject), so no point in starting now, when middle age is setting in. Are the reviewers at Hometheaterforum, blu-ray.com Highdefdigest or...
