    Surround Sound/Television Question

Fixed it! The Lennox Customer Service man's suggestion to run the cable from the cable box made a huge difference in sound. Sound really cool now regardless of digital or not. Not bad for $50. Thanks to everyone for your help on this issue. I have learned a lot!

    Surround Sound/Television Question

Okay, here's the best I could do. Keep in mind it is no where near as good as being in the room. First, I used a digital camera so the recording sound was not great. Second, you are listening to this through computer speakers (which in my case are not great either). I think though you might get...

    Surround Sound/Television Question

That sounds like an interesting project for me. I will see what I can do to record the sound and post a link. (Though this forum will not let me post links yet) I will have to pick a movie now...get back to you later today.

    Surround Sound/Television Question

RE Point 1 - I had a DVD player already. So I did not set out to buy a unit with an integrated player. RE Point 2 - I'm not sure what you mean by "digital" input. The DVD player I have is connect using an S-Video Cable from the DVD player to the TV. Then a red/white audio cable runs from the...

    Surround Sound/Television Question

I made a call to Lennox, and the gentleman I spoke with said the unit does not have ProLogic. But he said that should not make a difference. I explained I do hear sound through all 4 speakers, but that it does not sound at all like a DVD. He said it should and suggested I plug the system into my...

    Surround Sound/Television Question

Wow, maybe I should call the company and ask. I will let you know what they say! I can assure you all DVDs with Surround Sound ARE in Surround Sound. You get sound in the back and not the front, on the left and not the right, etc. It was only through television programming that I did not hear...

    Surround Sound/Television Question

I am familiar with this system as a relative just bought one. I think my Durabrand has much better sound personally.

    Surround Sound/Television Question

I guess I stuck my foot in my mouth with that comment. Sorry guys! My main point was I would have liked a 3 grand system as opposed to $50, but $50 is what I can afford right now. As to your comment regarding good lower-end systems. I am happy with this one. It has super sound with DVDs. I...

    Surround Sound/Television Question

Thanks for taking the time to look it up. I had suspected that was the case. I guess you 'get what you pay for', but having said that, I did not want to invest in an expensive unit first go-around. I mean, wouldn't we all like to have a Bose? Oh well, it has GREAT sound for a cheap unit when...

    Surround Sound/Television Question

I will do my best to answer your question. It is a Durabrand Model HP-3915, AC 120V 60Hz, Power Consumption 90 Watts, Total output power 100 Watts (I did say it was a lower end unit.) There is an online manual at lennox.com under home theater, and then HP3915. I tried to post a link, but because...

    Surround Sound/Television Question

Why would better fidelity create a hiss? (And pardon me for being on the ignorant side.)

    Surround Sound/Television Question

I did try turning the TV speakers off. I'm not sure that fixed it though. RE the RCA plug suggestion. This will not affect my DVD player hookup, will it? I followed the manual which said audio plugs from DVD to Surround and then TV to Surround.

    Surround Sound/Television Question

I have a lower-end surround sound system. I get great sound from DVDs and CDs, as I have both a CD player and a DVD player hooked up to it. However, when playing surround sound TV programming, I hear a slight hiss in the background - which is annoying - and do not notice the effect as much. Is...
