***Official STAR WARS Episode III: REVENGE OF THE SITH Review Thread

I got a great suprise watching this, I actually found it to be great entertainment that flowed nicely from scene to scene. I was no fan of the prequels thus far, the first two were dull and filled with poor dialogue IMO. I'd go as far as to say that ROTS is better than ROTJ. What it doesn't do...

    DVD Repair Kits?

Alex, whatever you do, it will leave very light scratches on your disk, none that will affect playback. The buffing does not erase the pattern completly.

    DVD Repair Kits?

the skip doctor works well, but don't expect your discs to look perfect afterwards. The actual process used by the skip doctor to rub away at the disks surface will leave a kind of spirall patern on the disc, no matter how much lubricant you use :-) So, my advice is to only use it if the...

    The Abyss Special Edition

I've been waiting for ages for them to release an anamorphic version. I don't buy non-anamorphic.

Dentist sues Disney/Pixar for Finding Nemo

Sounds like he has a good case, shame he can only get $500, which is peanuts for a quality script. The lesson - Think about what your signing.

Why does Eric Bana keep getting work in Hollywood?

Lay off Bana. Hulk was badly made, I don't think any blame for that film being a lemon should be put on Bana. Choose a more worthy target like the very wooden Edward Norton. Or Ben Affleck.

    Fat Girl banned in Ontario

sounds like a bit of a harsh law to me.

    Alexander-- Stone editing the DVD!

Since the irish accents has become a big issue with this film, it has to be noted that in the european nations, where this did well, the film would have not been shown in it's original english soundtrack. It would have been dubbed into the native language of that country before being shown in...

    Alexander-- Stone editing the DVD!

gabrielle, Really? What do you mean by europe, because it's showings at the UK box office were very poor for a supposed epic like this. Can you name some countries were this actually did well? I'm british and i still would have found american accents less strange than irish ones. It's what we...

    Alexander-- Stone editing the DVD!

It was implied on more than one occassion that alexander's sexual preference was men. It's true that main stream audiences probably don't want to see to much intimacy between men on a hollywood blockbuster like this. So the decisions made were sensible, as a director, stone has to think about...

    Alexander-- Stone editing the DVD!

"The gays lambasted me for not making Alexander openly homosexual, and, in the Bible Belt pastors were up in the pulpit saying that to watch this film was to be tempted by Satan." Stone said. I have no idea why people have claimed that alexander wasn't potrayed as openly gay. He had male...

What would you all consider the "holy trilogies" of movies?

The 2 trilogies that will have more lasting appeal than any of the others mentioned are: star wars OT and LOTR. Godfather trilogy (part 3 was kind of disapointing) definetly deserves a mention and so does the dollar trilogy I can't believe that matrix is being mentioned in this thread, whilst...

In your hand, or on Hard drive: Question

On a 1 megabit connection, you can download 4500 megabytes in around 10 hours (5 hours on a 2megabit connection). Currently, these are considered the higher offerings of broadband in most areas of europe & america. So, still not a massive problems for the movie studios, as the bulk of people...

In your hand, or on Hard drive: Question

It's a case of how your sentimentality works. For me with music, I really don't care about owning any CDs whatsoever. Could never see the point of CD singles and have been saying so for years before the decline of single sales in the UK & elsewhere. Why would anyone want to go out and buy one...

In your hand, or on Hard drive: Question

High quality VOD is definetly within our lifetimes. Broadband is only in it's infancy. 10megabit and higher connections are not uncommon in areas of many countries now, at a reasonable price. In truth most copyright holders fear the escalating speeds of broadband, as they believe this leads to...

Highlander 2 Special Edition: anyone buying?

I think it's quite obvious why changes have been made to Highlander 2 and most of us are aware of the production issues when this film was being made. In most cases, including lord of the rings, these new cuts add features for the fans, that might make the movie drag on to long for joe sixpack...

Highlander 2 Special Edition: anyone buying?

nice review, can't say that i'm tempted to buy it though. Only way i would buy this is in a highlander trilogy boxset, where i was virtually getting the second one for free.

    The Incredibles 2-Disc Collector's Edition: Easter 2005!

I have no doubt that this will be a top quality transfer when it comes out on DVD. Why wouldn't it be? Whether it will have the dts track is another issue. It would be nice, but no biggie for me. And if you don't believe me, speak to the heavy drinkers among us.
