Off Topic: What was this past Sunday's, April 1st, Family Guy Episode about? I missed it but can't seem to find an episode recap anywhere! Awesome South Park ep btw! I really hope part II of this Ep really happens!
I would love to finally have a DTS-ES 6.1 track, although my DTS laserdisc has been keeping me happy for years in the sound department I would definitely welcome a remastered picture and 16:9 enhancement as well...ooh and a 2 hour long documentary would be cool too!
So I've read on the net that the Mimic LD PCM stereo surround track has stronger bass than both the Dolby Digital LD and the DTS LD. I have the DTS LD and have always been impressed by the surround activity and thought the bass was also very good. So I'm curious to find out first hand. Later on...
I compared the LD PCM track of Top Gun versus the DTS 6.1 Track of the DVD and the DVD is definitely the winner, although the LD PCM track is exceptionally good and doesn't fall far behind. The DTS track just sounded more open and had better bass overall.
Re: Top Gun Laserdisc. Which track is better on laserdisc? The LD AC-3 track? Or the LD PCM track? Boh of which are on the same laserdisc. Edit: I just remembered that I have this so I'll try to do a comparison today. But if anyone else has already compared these LD tracks it'd be cool to...
Glad this thread is active again...So today I played the PCM track from a few laserdiscs and I wasn't too impressed by them...or was I not playing it correctly? Here's what I did: I have a Pioneer CLD-D704 output via digital output with a coaxial digital cable. I am running that to my Denon...
Hi Posten, What are your room dimensions? And how many screen widths are you sitting back? I'm considering buying this Panny or the InFocus 4805. The contrast ratio on the Panny is 5500:1, how does it perform in a room with a little ambient light? Or does this projector require total darkness...
Just wanted to share my little Netflix frustration of the week: I haven't seen either Saw or Saw II. So I put both films at the top of my queue with Saw 1 on top. So then they ship both at the same time and they say I will get both on Saturday and lo and behold I only received Saw 2! AHHH...
This looked pretty awesome and yes the audio mix was kind of weak, with certain instruments not coming through very well, I couldn't feel the bass guitar at all.
Yesterday I watched The Day After Tomorrow on HBO in HD, which looked amazing. But I ended up syncing up the DTS audio track from the DVD to the HD broadcast. By far one of the best video and audio experiences I've had. Usually the broadcast dolby digital doesn't sound great. Does anyone else do...
So what's up with The Others? they look like the band of mercenaries from the film DEEP RISING! I was totally expecting The Others to be something out of this world and they end up being B grade actors.
So how did the Black Rock (old ship) get to be so inland on the island, there's no way it could have and would have been dragged into the jungle. Was there water that I didn't see, cuz it seemed to be completely on land.
I had calibrated my speakers by pointing the SPL meter at each individual speaker and up by about 45 degrees, but the method of pointing it at your center speaker and then 45 degrees up makes much more sense since you are trying to achieve the same sound level from exactly one spot. Oh well...
Just loved the end with Cartman playing with his Tonka radio controlled truck moving piles of pebbles around. Also liked the references to Michael Bay's Armageddon, music and all!
