Is this information documented somewhere? I'd like to read more about what Universal Monster film elements remain and how they were restored and remastered.
Star Trek: The Original 4-Movie 4K Collection [Star Trek: The Motion Picture / The Wrath of Khan / The Search for Spock / The Voyage Home] (iTunes or VUDU) - $15
Stanley Kubrick: 3-Film 4K Collection: 2001: A Space Odyssey/The Shining/Full Metal Jacket (Movies Anywhere) - $15
Since The Godfather is now "newly restored and remastered in Dolby Vision" and to be released with HDR-10 on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, I assume the viewing experience should somehow be different. Will HDR change the original intended look of the film?
If I hadn't opened those discs yet, there would be a good chance I wasn't all that enthusiastic about watching them in the first place. Therefore, I would conclude the effort and expense to replace them wouldn't be worth the marginally enhanced experience of watching them in 4K.
I'm waiting on the delivery of the 4k set today, so I haven't been able to directly compare the BDs vs UHDs. I do own the iTunes 4K versions of Frankenstein and The Invisible Man. On my setup, there wasn't a big distinction between the streaming 4k ones and Blu-ray versions. So, maybe holding...
I'm not understanding what you mean. Are you just talking about Blu-rays? There was an 8-film Essential set, the 5 Legacy sets that focused on the Individual characters (with the exception of the "Phantom of the Opera"), and then there was a 30-film Complete set.
The only extra 3D film was...
What is the consensus on the new Blu-ray? Here's a comparison of a scene on the 2018 Blu-ray vs the 2007 Blu-ray? Does the new Blu-ray look less sharp?

Three is a magic number
Yes, it is, it's a magic number
Somewhere in that ancient mystic trinity
You get three as a magic number
The past and the present and the future
The faith and hope and charity
The heart and the brain and the body
Give you three as...
If I'm not mistaken, the 4K UHD disc of WB's biggest selling film, The Dark Knight, was announced on November 18, 2017, only a month before its release date on December 19, 2017.
This is a confirmed release as evidenced by Warner Bros Germany. It will be released on May 24, 2018. What is unknown is whether the standalone Blu-ray will be an upgrade. It's unlikely there will be any additional features added; the British Film Classification Board has not rated any new...
In case anyone is wondering, these are the top pre-1970 collected WB titles in Blu-ray.com's database. And those multiple instances of Wizard of Oz still don't add up to as many collected copies of 2001. BTW, who knew "Cool Hand Luke" was so popular?
2001: A Space Odyssey
North by Northwest...
Y'all may not be aware of this, but 2001 is probably WB's biggest collected pre-1970 film. The studio number crunchers likely understand its significance to collectors and importance in promoting the future of their 4K back catalog. WB should want to do it right.
Retail sources have begun telling us that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is preparing to release a 4K Ultra HD version of director Stanley Kubrick’s landmark science fiction film 2001: A Space Odyssey. This is something we’ve actually known was coming for a few months now, having heard it off...
It's 2018. Does anyone know if we'll see a 50th-anniversary restoration? In general, I HATE those oversized WB boxes (Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Wizard of Oz, etc.), but I would throw a bucket of money at them if they made a special presentation package for this film.
Here are some screenshots. They're not exactly the same, but they'll work for comparison purposes. The HD images are pillarboxed. In the second set of images, Garner's face seems more saturated, yet softer in the Blu-ray. In motion, the Blu-ray looks better than the DVD, but there's something...
Australia's Madcap found it important enough to include both feature-length and syndicated 2-part versions of "The House on Willis Avenue." What's the difference between the two versions and which one is on the new BD set...
