Absolutely wonderful film, which never fails to get me emotionally. John Wayne’s final film could not have been more appropriate.
As for Clay O’Brien…while he was cute in The Cowboys, and definitely stole a few scenes, he was not an actor by trade. And unfortunately that come to light in...
I understand your point about V. When I first saw it in the theaters, I was amazed at how bad it was. But then I got it on LD not long afterwards, and between the surround sound (which the previous movies lacked), and a newfound respect for some of the deeper scenes (revisiting pain from the...
Worst movie of the original 6. The new Savak was horrible, the ending was incredibly boring and drawn out, and Nimoy’s direction was not up to professional levels yet. Many will say 5 was the worst, but at least that had more action from start to finish than 3
Well stated. The only other thing I could add to your post would be for SirusXM to ditch their DJs. Not only do they interrupt the listening experience, many times they will give you their unsolicited views on world events and politics. And even if you agree with them, no one signs up to...
I saw that particular show, and own the cast album. Absolutely wonderful! Watching the film, you’d have a hard time imagining it was derived from that fabulous 1940’s stage production.
I think my favorite episode (although most were top-notch), is “Today the man who kills ants is coming”. Powerful study of the strain and emotional stress being a patrol officer could cause
When SiriusXM removed Deep Tracks, I was seriously considering canceling, as my radio doesn’t pick up channel 330 (or wherever they moved it to). But in trying to find a replacement station, I stumbled upon the Chill station. Have definitely enjoyed listening to it since December, but as with...
I picked up Vertigo on BD a few years back, and after watching it, was very disappointed in wasting 2 hours of my time on such an awful film. After reading so many positive comments about film, I felt maybe I missed something the first time. I dusted it off once again this past Fall and gave...
So true! The only reason I still pay for cable is to have access to the WatchTCM app. Really wish I could just purchase it without having to pay for cable
Nothing really that hasn’t been discussed in this thread. The one thing I found interesting was the special effects team that created the flood scenes, would work on Hells Angels four years later.
Since this doesn’t appear to be on the WAC release schedule this year, just a heads up that it’s currently on the TCM app thru Christmas. Print looks pretty nice too.
I agree about season 4 not being as strong as the first three. There were only so many predicaments that Richard could be placed in, and as you say, by season 4 the plots were not as captivating. Also, I think the introduction of color film in season 4 took some of the tension out of the show.
