I found this movie entertaining enough , my only complaint is the use of modern era derelict buildings as 1918 France for the WW1 battle scenes , the construction was easy to spot as modern.
I will answer my own question here..... Yes Asia has it released on Feb.14 at $ 17 US in DTS 6.1 This a great movie , anyone who likes Chinese period movies will love this one !!
I have to agree somewhat Andrew, there was not too much new here. I did enjoy it and glad I have it in my collection but if a DTS or different version comes along I'll pass on upgrading. Parts were not too realistic.... heads being cut off and no blood, and my favourate character the female...
Various Retailers are now taking preorders for "Seven Swords" in Region 3. All seem to have the same 153 minute cut of the movie and a 60 minute second disc, but so far I have not seen any boasting DTS sound !
It looks like the extras are mostly the same with maybe a minor diff of an item or two, plus the R3 has a paper airplane cutout. As for the PQ, my Warner Bros. R3 of TROY was excelent , so it's a good bet this one will be too!
Hong Kong Flix and 5 Star Laser both have Bullet In The Head with The Killer , 2 disc box set from "Fortune Star" not Mega Star. No run time is listed but it states widescreen with dts sound. Worth a look.
Ya it's a bit of a pain having the film split on 2 discs. I was disapointed in the rooftop crash on the dolby track. In the theater it shook the walls. Im still not sure if I'll allow my self to be double dipped on this one ?
Martin Scorsese's The Aviator is being advertised at yesasia and cd-wow in a 3 disc set with dts . My region 1 dolby digital 2 disc will soon become a coaster ! Serves my right for not waiting.
I have the region 1 Quadrilogy and the Japanese Aliens in DTS. I played both at the same time and flipped back and forth to compare. The DTS was noticely better but to my disapointment the video on the Japanese version seemed a little bit grainier and a little bit less saturated. It was miner...
CD WOW lists a region 2 PAL encoded 2 disc set that is anamorphic but its running time is listed as 147 min. My Touchstone region 1, nonanamorphic runs at 151 min. and the Criterion nonanamorphic runs at 153 min. All 3 versions suck. Too bad !!! Hopfully some day an anamorphic 153 min. disc will...
Your right Rich , I cannot see myself upgrading my bitwin version since I am quite happy with it. So many websites have really dissed the region 1 quality from Miramax I feel sorry for all the people who limit themselves to region 1
After watching my Edko 2 disc version it is better video than the previous release ,its not Superbit but still better, and the dts 6.1 is superb. Mine does not freeze up but there is a split second blip at the layer change at 62 min. 46 sec.into the film. The second disc has no English subtitles...
The yesasia web site is now taking preorders for a 2 disc dts6.1 release. It is still from Edco , hopefully the video will be improved. But for the price of $20 US I'm going for the DTS-ES and I'll let you know how it is ......
I have the Limited Edition which is superb in all respects , but for DTS 6.1 I.ll go for it. As for the directors cut , it seems to be only 1 minute longer !! I only hope the video quality stands up to the L.E.
