All of our computers are named after characters from Reboot. My desktop is Andraia, my wife's laptop is Ray Tracer, and the HTPC is, of course, Mike the TV. Out network workgroup is Mainframe.
Well, my Pio sets the volume to 0dB when it goes into setup. I'm pretty happy with the auto set up: I checked levels using the Video Essentials DVD and an SPL meter. I found levels checked to within 2 dB.
Anyone using the TV Out from their video cards? I understand that the card must detect a cable connection to the S-video jack before the TV Out will be enabled. I would like to connect said TV Out to an input on my home theater receiver. Will this input provide the required load for the card to...
You mentioned that you had to move the CPU fan? are you sure the heatsink is in good contact with the CPU? Your CPU could be shutting down due to overheating.
I am designing my home theater PC and I want opinions which is the best way to get video from the computer into a standard definition NTSC TV: Buy a video card with S-video TV out, or buy an external VGA to S-vide (or component video) converter?
Yes, please let me know! I guess the next step is to contact Pioneer. I can live with it, but it would be nice to be able to take it out of mute while standing in front of the unit.
Would you believe cycling power has NO affect!?! I swear this is like some kind of security feature; Mute the receiver, power down and hide the remote, no one will be using it! Sigh. At least no one is pointing out some obvious step that I totally missed!
When it is done with auto setup it will set the volume to the last known level you used when playing something. So say you watch a movie at 17db you are watching a movie 17 db below reference level. but I did not play anything before running the auto set up, so what is the reference level?
Just installed my new VSX-54TX and all is well. I note the volume indicator is in dB. Since I used the supplied microphone to automatically set levels, does this indication actually mean something? If so, what is the 0 dB point referenced to?
I want to purchase a Pioneer VSX-54TX. I understand that non-authorized Internet dealers cannot offer the Pioneer US Warranty. Can anyone recommend a good authorized internet dealer for this receiver?

Well, my origianl reply got corrupted somehow, so here is a second try ....if you just need a "av pre-amp" then I see no point using a AV amp just for the processing side.. I cant seem to find a preamp with the features I want. ...If you need the ease of use with switching, look for a...
Sony TAE1000ESD preamp, purchased in 12/89. Dolby Pro Logic, front channels, center, sub and surround out. sounds GOOD but I need to get into the digital world.
thank you! What I mean by switched AC outlets is to have one or two AC receptacles on the back of the unit, that are switched on when the receiver is switched on. Handy for connecting other equipment to, and having everything switched on and off at the same time. Will immediately investigate the...
