I do understand that the HD2+ chip is more expensive and probably sharper. But I have heard that the HD3 chip, while less sharp, gives images that are smoother and more film-like--especially with DVD's.. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, are the blacks on the HD3 as deep as on the...
All other things being equal, which DLP set would be better for watching movies on DVD, one with the HD2+ chip or one with the new HD3 chip? I have read that the new HD3 chip is actually a lower cost chip but that it smooths the edges giving a less sharp but more "film like " image. Is this...
I would like to buy a 61" DLP RPTV (with the new HD2+ chip)for use with a progressive scan DVD player (perhaps one of the new Sony models) and with my LD player (with a DVDO HD+ scaler). I would really appreciate some help with the following questions: 1. How close can I sit to the screen...
Is there any reason to buy one over the other? More importantly, has anyone read any reviews or other articles on the actual performance of these sets??? Thanks, Bruce
From what I've read LCOS does not give you the deep blacks of DLP. If you need a thin set, check out the Optoma 50" DLP which is only about 14" deep or the new DLP offerings from RCA and InFocus which are even thinner. Bruce
One more question: What is the difference between the InFocus 61md10 and the RCA Scenium HD61THW263??? Based on the specs and photos they look absolutely identical to me? Are they really the same set? Thanks, Bruce
Personally, I prefer DLP for movies on DVD. Plasma would be my second choice and LCD my third--but I am not an expert and would love to hear the opinions of others. Bruce
What about a DLP set??? One of the new models with the HD2+ chip will give you better blacks and a more film-like experience from DVD's than either plasma or LCD. Bruce
Has anyone heard anything about this? It was announced in January of 2004 and is shown on the InFocus website, but I have never seen a review of it nor do any retailers stock it. This sounds like it would be better for watching movies than a 60 inch plasma, but I would really appreciate any...
I thought that blackening of the chip was true of all HD2+ chips. The ads and spec sheets make it sound like "Dark Chip 2" is something new and in addition to the HD2+ chip. Bruce
Some new HD2+ DLP sets now claim to feature something called "Dark Chip 2". What is this and is it a significant improvement over a similar DLP HD2+ set without it? Thanks, Bruce Sherman
