Where can I find drink holders?

Handy links there.. I was looking for some cup holders for my HT, but I too ran into the $20 minimum problem. A bit more Googling and I found a set of 10 black plastic ones on ebay which I won for $6.50. Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me :)

    Component vs. svideo

Thanks Allan. I picked up a component cable for the DVD -> Receiver, and it definitely looks better. My next step is to buy a DVD player with DVI out instead, and run it straight to the projector. That all depends on the budget though :)

    DVD players with DVI out

First, let me apologise for starting a new thread on this, but I can't get the search to return results for 'DVI'. At any rate, I'm looking for a couple of options for a DVD player which meets these requirements: 1) DVI output, 2) Region free, or can be made region free. 3) Capable of...

    Component vs. svideo

Yep, I'm talking component, not composite. From what I was reading last night as well, I might eventually end up going with a DVI connection, but in the meantime, I'll stick to component where possible. DVI will require a new DVD player and a new cable run, so that may have to wait.

    Component vs. svideo

I just pretty much finished setting up my HT (yay). Lots of tweaking still to do though. Right now, the DVD player is hooked up to the receiver via svideo. The receiver upconverts to component for the projector. I'm thinking it would be a very good idea to connect the DVD player to the receiver...

    Building a couch riser

I ended up building it with just a single layer of 3/4" ply on 16" spacing. I did like the idea of the more solid construction, but it was getting very expensive/heavy, so I decided against it. You can see a photo of the result on my gallery page (riser.jpg). Since taking the photo, I've routed...

    Need in-wall component rack ideas

Based on the posts in this thread, I built a component stand this weekend. You can see the finished result on my HT gallery page (haven't made enough posts to be able to put a URL in my post yet). The filename is 'shelves.jpg'. It's not in the final location yet - it will be moved under the...

    Building a couch riser

Well I'm convinced.. I like the rope light idea, and I've got to admit, the overhang looks good. I've drawn up new plans and I'll head out to the HD soon to buy lumber. Thanks for all the advice :)

    Building a couch riser

Hm, hadn't actually planned to have any overhang - I was thinking of making it come right up to the edge. Although, doing it this way, I can make sure the 2x10 at the edge is directly under the legs of the couch.. to be absolutely certain of the support. As far as constructing it, the local...

    Building a couch riser

Jimi - the couch actually has 4 feet, so the weight isn't evenly distributed. Thanks for the info Jay. Your HT looks fantastic! It's interesting that you were able to succesfully round the plywood fairly easily by the look of it. I expected it would splinter more than that.. so at least I...

    Building a couch riser

Hi folks, I'm planning to build a riser for my rear row of seating, and I'm looking for suggestions. A few searches seem to indicate several people have built risers, but I wasn't able to find specifics. Anyway, the idea I have in my head is to use 2x10 topped with 3/4" ply. The 2x10 would...

    Convince me!

Yup, all through the same receiver. I'm by no means done auditioning yet though. Got a few more places to visit first!

    Convince me!

It was hooked up to the same receiver I'm considering buying, which is the Rotel RSX-1056..

    Convince me!

Drew, I listened to the Studio 60 Paradigms: (Grr, this URL posting limitation is annoying - here are the specs, but you'll need to add on www and copy/paste the rest of the URL) paradigm.com/Website/SiteReferenceProduct/RModels/StudioSeries/StudioSpecs.html Don't get me wrong - they...

    Convince me!

I went out to audition speakers this evening. Based on recommendations, I listened to some Paradigms. Then, switched over to some B&W speakers (700 series, specifically, the 704 - I'd post a link, but I haven't made 15 posts yet so it won't let me - they're pretty easy to find on the...

    Greetings! My HT plan..

The store I was in yesterday also recommended the Paradigm speakers, to go with the Rotel receiver.. I'm going back there today to have a listen. Thanks for the recommendation!

    Greetings! My HT plan..

Thanks John, I'll post in the display devices forum shortly. My budget is somewhere around $14k, but this needs to cover everything (including a couch). I stopped at another HT store (Hm, apparently I can't make links until I've posted 15 times - their site is at definitive.com) on the way...

    Greetings! My HT plan..

Hi folks, This is my first post on these forums, so let me tell you a little about my HT plan. I have a finished basement which is 18' x 12' (or 5.4m x 3.6m if metric is your thing) into which I would like to put a fairly large screen, DLP projector, 5.1 surround sound, etc. I have fairly...
