Ahh I completely understand now, thanks! So to check beam focus, I just wedge my body inside the tv and look directly into each lens to get an idea of whether the beam focus is on target for each crt (would be similar to adjusting my CRT computer monitor)? I'm really hoping they are focused...
I cleaned off the crt lenses and the mirror last night which seemed to help (plus it was just fun checking out all the stuff in there hehe). As far as beam/optical focus, im not sure how to go about doing that (I think I came across something somewhere which involved loosening some of the...
I purchased the TV from someone a year ago, so I'm not sure if any maintenance has been done... As far as calibration goes I did some messing around, changed the picture mode from 'vivid' to 'standard', ran through the AVIA calibration disc and things look much better though I still feel like...
I do realize that my sources are maxing out at 1080i/720p, but I would be benefiting from the upconversion and higher pixel count of a 1080p set correct? In the future I might end up putting together a HTPC in which case a 1080p set might be the way to go, but as it happens now, im doing all my...
I'm currently becoming more and more disappointed with the PQ of my current set and am looking to upgrade but I'm not sure whether I should make the jump to 1080P now or not. The sources I would be running will be hd upconverted dvd, my xbox on component out, charter hdtv, and coming this...
Whats the complete model number on the sony's you're talking about - I tried googling for 42A10 and came up with nothing. Are they not out yet? EDIT: Ack, nevermind. KDFE42A10 Looks like ~$2000, might be a little high priced, we'll see if I can come up with the extra cash. Any other models...
Well, Im moving to a new apartment and I finally have the space for a decent sized TV - I play a lot of videogames, thus due to burn-in and brightness concerns I'm thinking either an LCD or DLP projection set is the way to go. I'm on a fairly tight budget of about $1500, but I can probably...
Happy birthday to me :) ...ok it was enevitable, its my birthday, so I think im obliged to at least mention something on here. Using the Fluance AV-HTB's paired with an H&K AV230 and I have no complaints of any fashion. I've been running on the blockbuster movie pass for awhile now, and...
I think im split between the vrs-7100 and the yamaha htr-5760. Obviously going to spend more on the yammie, but I think its probably the better route to go...
Just had someone recommend the Pioneer vsx-d814k to me, although I think Id end up going with the 912K (auto calibration), anyone had any experience with this? EDIT: nevermind, same 100Hz crossover limitation - still viable option though...
That actually looks like a pretty damn good option. Looking on cnet the 912K got the second highest rating. I might go with the 9xx line just for the auto calibration feature; but I have one question, whats the difference between the 912 vs the 914?
I'm not really sure - I mean, I dont think spending an inordinate amount on a receiver thats only pushing relatively average speakers would be a wise decision; but then again I guess theres always the standpoint that I would upgrade eventually. Maybe like 300-400ish? Although, If I dont have to...
Is there a real benefit of Component Upconversion in a receiver? I'm going to be running component video from my xbox into whatever receiver I end up with and out to my tv; but will not having this feature hinder non-component video sources? Thanks.
Has anyone here used the slimline Kenwood vrs-7100? Im going to be picking up a set of fluance av-htb (or the sx's not sure) and a sub, and I'm wondering if the 7100 is stuck with a high crossover point (100 Hz) like the other popular digital amp, the Panasonic SA-XR50. From fluance's site...
Thanks man - I think im going to go with the sx's and either a dayton 10", CHT 10, or JBL e250p for a sub. All of that decided, I still need a capable amp to power all this with. I'd like at least 6.1 support if I ever decide to throw in the extra rear center and have component out for my tv -...
Hey guys, just joined the forum and have been reading around trying to put together a system for about $500-600ish. From what ive been reading, I could easily go with the onkyo ht-s760 setup which im sure would be perfect, but I also ran across the fluance av-htb system. I'm guessing the...
