Watched it earlier today and it was a great summer movie. Great story and even better performances. I could go on but I'll just wait until official review page is open.
As much as I wanted to like this new version of Godzilla, I ended up feeling very disappointed. For the title character of a monster movie I would have preferred a bit more screen time and not have Godzilla play a supporting character. This might be it for me for Americanized Godzilla movies.
Excellent review Kevin. However I'm surprised that a film of this scope did not get a collectors edition or at the very least a digibook release. Still an important film that will be added to my library.
Reading a few of the impressions (good or bad), I always remembered this film looking a bit odd in terms of visual effects. Despite all that this a personal midnight favorite of mine. A great suspenseful story that reinforced the notion that not all things can be explained.
Despite details that this film could have been handled better, I find it very difficult to pass on this collection. Probably what the penny-crunching execs want to hear and i hate to reward them with my hard earned cash. That said, this is one of the best films I've ever seen and it's a must...
I'm ambivalent about all this. It's too early to feel confident or doubt about how things will work out. Primarily in how they will treat the most critical part of the Star Wars franchise, the STORY. Will Disney target a more mature audience (Empire Strikes Back) or more the kid friendly...

Like many others here I was shocked to hear this news in the morning. Definetely want to hear a follow up as the details and investigation proceed. I'll be spinning Crimson Tide tonight in his memory. RIP Tony Scott.
It seems that for super hero based trilogies the 3rd film is it's weakest link, Blade & SpiderMan to name a few. Luckily the Dark Knight series does not continue this streak. Chris Nolan has achieved on film what Frank Miller has accomplished in a graphic novel.

I wish more re-makes were were as good as this. I'm glad the campiness was kept out of the story as a lot of the science (fiction) behind it seems to make "sense." I won't get into the details so as not to spoil it for those who have not seen it. What's refreshing is that enough time was given...
I must have been 8 but I vividly remember sitting in that dark theater in Boston completely entranced at what I was watching. Right when you first see Indy's face I remember saying "That's Han Solo!?!" I never did finish my popcorn & soda....
Right of the bat I don't want to slam the movie for being bad because it really wasn't bad. The performances from the kids were great. The production really brought you back to the pre-Star Wars fandom of model kits & bikes. The end credits was an excellent creative touch. But...if I had...
Why are these results a surprise to anyone??? I've become very selective when it comes to my Blu-ray collection this year. Give me more packaged classics like Taxi Driver, The Hustler and Apocalypse Now and I'm hooked. The manner these films were packaged go a long way in proving that...
Now that Nolan has remarkably handled Batman's "Year One" in Batman Begins, I eagerly awaited what he would do for his year two, The Dark Knight. For me it seems the sequel is the ultimate payoff in a super hero movie. But like others have said I just have a hard time calling this film a "super...
Sorry Jim C, I wasn't targeting you if that is how I came of. I was really referring about the media, ESPN & HBO specifically. I mean since when has the shift of stopping a team from scoring turned to the scoring team. Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought that is the opposing team's...
Running up the score??? I've been hearing that constantly and its becoming annoying. I remember the first week all this happened and everyone outside of New England questioning their hard work and integrity, wanting them to relinquish their trophys, ban the team & belichick from the NFL, pay...
I can't believe all this b.s. from others demanding a harsher penalty. The commish can ONLY punish the Pats for filming the defensive signals of the Jets!!! That's it!!! I'm a pissed off Pats fan at the arrogance of Belichick and the distraction this has caused the team. But to exceed the...
This being the 30th anniversary of Star Wars, it only felt right to spin the dvd as I'm sure others did. Yet despite all these years the opening sequence with the Star Destroyer still sends chills down my spine. For those two hours I felt like a kid again!!!
"Will we still celebrate Star...
Long ago I never would have thought that I'd see 300 on the big screen. But fast forward 10 years and there I was in the middle of the theater captivated by every visual sequence that flashed across the screen. Director Zack Snyder has done a tremendous job. Every scene I remembered was...
I've been considering purchasing Full Metal Jacket but after reading these posts I've started reconsidering. If Warner had realized certain films were "bobbed" are there any chances they will reissue this film properly?
That would be Asante Samuel (cb) and yeah he will be a free agent. Given the history of this team in not overpaying for their players, it will be unlikely he will return depending on how much $$ he is seeking. I hope he comes back and since Belichick stresses defense over offense it will be...
Being a Pats fan I am in complete misery this morning. They had some key chances to win this but came up short. Right now it is too difficult to talk or read about it for many New Englanders. However I still would like congratulate the Colts & their fans and wish them luck. (Except for Bill...
I hate to say this but as much as I loved King Kong I'll be renting it until the HD comes along as well. The film looked beautiful on the big screen so I can afford to be patient.
It has been so difficult to avoid reading or watching reviews about King Kong. But I can always count on HTF to give initial impressions without spoiling anything. I can't wait to see this on the big screen and sure enough will see it more than once.
