TravisR, I agree with what you say about finally knowing for sure that CSM is dead. When you refer to him as Mulder's arch enemy, an appearance in the finale makes sense, but I thought that his hanging around waiting for Mulder to show up made it as if his life revolved around Mulder, when...
I rewatched The Truth last week, and I liked it better this time around. It does a good job of explaining the basics of the mythology created over the 9 years, but after that very little happens. That always bothered me but now watching it again I realised that what happened was the only way...
I agree with James Ricketts that the CSM's last appearance was pretty bad. The long hair and all that ridiculous wise man appearance did not gel with his incessant smoking. And what did he do? He just told Mulder some date and died. The Truth was a pretty crappy finale IMO.
'Fight Club' vs...
Thanks TravisR for your summary of the deleted scene. I totally agree that the final scene we got was a good way to close. Interestingly the final thing they discuss on the show is the idea that the dead speak to us from beyond the grave. I recognised this as the 'walk-ins' from Closure, but...
I have a question for anyone who's got Season 9 on DVD: I read a review that briefly mentioned a deleted scene from the series finale involving a 'George Bush impersonator'.
Could anyone elaborate on what this scene actually is? Thanks.
I never thought Skinner died then, and I refuse to believe that now. But he would have faced consequences. Unfortunately we'll never know because Carter et al have ruined the mythology and now they're chickening out from the task of fixing it and setting the next film during the 'reset button' days.
There's also another Easter Egg, I'm afraid I can't remember on which disc, I'll try find it but basically you press left on one of the commentaries menus and it highlights a picture frame. When you press this you get a short featurette about how Martin Sheen can't remember their names.
With the R2 edition already having disc art (and it's very plain - just the WW logo and 'Episodes X-Y' over a blue Seal of the President background), I can't see that it'd be much of a problem for them to put art on these. I wish they'd confirm what extras are going to be on it, if indeed...
I hate that, because you get far less actual watching time for your money, what with HBO seasons of 10-13 episodes compared to 20-24. That said, some of the HBO shows (for instance Six Feet Under itself) do possess quality that is matched by few other shows.
Do TV DVD box sets have layer changes within episodes? Surely if they have 4 episodes they could store 2 on one layer and 2 on the other, thereby eliminating an in-picture layer change.
I ordered Season 3 after Amazon reduced it to get rid of the old stock, and it arrived today. When I put it next to my Season 1, it is considerably shorter. Are anybody else's like this? I agree that X-Files shouldn't have been turned into a Law & Order type formulaic anthology show. Although...
Seasons 1-4 are all excellent, 5 is good solid drama but in Season 6 when they created so many gimmicky episodes, tried to tie up the entire mythology with 2 hours of pure exposition, it started to go downhill. I agree about Season 7 being pretty bad, with such all-time-worst contenders like...
I don't think they'll make this kind of effort. The seasons have sold well on standard DVD, but they have always been quite expensive, so Fox can't guarantee that if they do a new HD release they will sell well - will that many people re-buy them? Also, I think that the effects are only put...
Assuming you've seen all the episodes in Seasons 1 and 2, I think perhaps the best place to start would be Season 3. This is because it is the first of the sets that actually have worthwhile extras (commentaries on Jose Chung's From Outer Space and Apocrypha etc). Also just 'cos it has some of...
In the UK in October, we will be able to get the seasons at a far cheaper price. Seasons 1, 2 and 3 are being re-released in simpler packaging this October for £30 (roughly $55), when they used to sell for the equivalent of $115. The other seasons will follow in later months. I don't see any...
Yeah, you can see the artwork and details at DVDTimes. HTF won't allow me to post the link until I've posted 15 times on the forum, so you'll have to find it yourselves.
