So, has anyone figured out what's causing the ridiculous amount of edits on the Netflix versions? Incidental music? Likeness rights somehow? Something else?
I've been watching seasons 6, and 7. It is good to see the bulk of the episodes again, but they are HEAVILY EDITED! Some eps clock in at around 30 minutes meaning there is practically 50 minutes missing. Music acts are also absent on the majority of the episodes. Still hoping for an...
Well, the F-bomb is pretty nothing in 2010 (especially on a pay service requiring a credit card vs network TV), while the drug test was dropped for being in bad taste.
It's interesting that they're using the live versions for some of these.
New SNL content finally hit Netflix's streaming service this week.
The good news:
There's footage from every episode of Seasons 6-12 to compliment the complete Seasons 1-5.
You can see Charles Rocket cursing and Laurie Metcalf as a featured player.
The bad news:
No full...
I'm don't think that it's every episode. Some sites are reporting it that way but the press release says this: * Episodes from every season of NBC’s signature comedy franchise “Saturday Night Live,” including day-after broadcast of the upcoming 2010, 2011 and 2012 seasons plus hundreds of...
Going by an old Usenet post from when it aired on NBC in '99 by someone who kept track of these things, it had one airing on Ha! and never aired on Comedy Central proper. It's definitely pretty strange with that ep's Fernando sketch (interviewing Hogan & T, which did get shown on clip shows in...
By the way, does anyone know if they only have the versions with the "previously recorded" graphics from the Ebersol years? They're what aired on the Classic SNL slot.
Going by the previous release dates, we should be hearing about the next SNL season set in the next few months. If they keep going in order, then the next release is Season 6 ('80-'81), which is the first season without Lorne Michaels and pretty universally considered by far the worst season of...
You're being obtuse and coming to the most ridiculous conclusion possible, all while bordering on trolling on one of the most civil forums on the internet (Impressive!). Obviously I'm going to get an HDTV when I need a new TV, but right now it's not something I wanna spend several hundred...
No, but it's a lot more lame with a commentary (which doesn't take up much space) than it is with documentaries. (And I thought I read that Dollhouse and Bones are the first TV shows to do so).
Store exclusive items and bonus discs != standard DVD special features. If they're not going to pay more for the HD video or lossless audio, they're not going to pay more for one commentary.
Yup, thanks Leo. At any rate: Commentaries (and deleted scenes like with Bones S5) are standard DVD features, so it's ridiculous. This should be limited to BD Live stuff.
While, in general, I hate special features being held back from a DVD release and only on the Blu Ray, this time it seems especially egregious. It's a commentary, a plain stereo audio track of someone talking. What's the point? I don't have an HDTV. I'm not going to run out and buy one along...
Someone at the TWoP forums notice that the order form is still up and fully functional at the original URL of http://www.shopbootlegs.com/store/bt...ex.jsp?site=fg (yes, that's a real Sony site, not an actual bootleg site). Did someone at Sony screw up or are they selling it?
The only NBC All-Night airing I have (Hulk Hogan & Mr. T) definitely differs from the Serpas guide. I noticed this when I was converting it to DVD. It probably has to do w/ the NBC All-Night airings being taken from a rerun master that was shuffled around (many, if not all of the shows from the...
I'm fine with it as long as it's examined on a case by case basis. Buffy Season 6's premiere, for example. is included as it was originally aired; as a 2 hour episode. Every repeat airing (network or syndicated) divided it into 2 episodes and cut parts out.
Season 1 and 2 are both excellent. Well worth your time and money. Season 3 is probably the weakest overall, as yes, it becomes obvious that nobody had any idea where they were going, but it's still a lot of fun and all of the non-Melissa George actors do a fine job. Season 4 feels...
The compression really does concern me here, especially since the video quality of the previous sets was fantastic and the show has a decent amount of action.
Network affiliation has nothing to do with it. WWOR, owner of the shows, is owned by News Corp (Fox), who bought the Chris Craft Station Group. When CBS bought UPN originally, Howard thought this meant he could get the Channel 9 shows because WWOR is a UPN affiliate, but it really means...
If he does, he hasn't used it. I'm holding out a little hope that it was on 2" tape or somesuch and he didn't want to shell out the money to have it all converted, though.
