John is right, if you have enough component video inputs on your tv, then you can just change video inputs on your tv and route your audio to the receiver (some would argue this is better even if you have component video switching by claiming there is signal degradation if video passes through...
Just got my svs pb10 and had a question... my receiver is set to crossover at 80; when I do a frequency sweep on the subwoofer alone, the volume on the sub crescendos to 55mhz, then drops, then gets louder at 45mhz then drops again. is this normal? if not, how can I control this? thx
would go with grados. I have the sr80s and love them. Don't know that they carry them at best buy, but know that you can get them online (and have seen them sold at a bunch of retail places i've been to). Only caveat is that they are open eared. don't know whether that affects your decision...
I guess my main hangup is that the hk is: 50watt @ < 0.07% THD while pioneer is: I believe 0.09% THD i'm less concerned about driving loud volume as with sound quality. is this a meaningful difference?
does MCACC matter though if I have an avia disc and an spl meter? I assume the latter would be more reliable. Also, was wondering what the true difference of thx select would be given the speakers that I have...i assume that thx select just means that if all of the components are thx designated...
I have a setup with 3 gallo dues and 2 micros and needed to buy a receiver. have narrowed it down to hk230 and pioneer 1014. Was wondering if people had thoughts on which would match the best with my speakers, other important features that one has that the other might not or any other...
Thanks to everyone who replied. i went ahead and picked up the receiver at jandr. Assume that at the point that I actually understand the benefit of getting the seperate amp, it'll probably be time to replace the whole shebang. thanks again.
sorry, to clarify, speakers are anthony gallos. Other than the ability to go 6 or 7 channels, or to fill a larger type room; is there anything that shelling out more for an amp will get you (keeping in mind speakers aren't top-end)
Am going to get a setup with 3 dues and 2 micros. DO not see myself upgrading speakers / going 6.1 anytime in the foreseeable future. Using just for home theater/music listening (don't need a/b switching, although I'm not sure what that means, I don't think I need it). Was wondering, does it...
thanks andre. the only question I have is...sony has a pretty broad dvd player offering. can I feel fairly safe with any current product they have out? or is there some objective way looking at specs that one can tell how well video is downconverted for standard dimensions. thx. ultimately...
sorry, to clarify, this is for the dvd player. I basically want to minimize purchasing any features that would not be taken advantage of given my current tv (i.e. DVI output, etc.) thanks
Am putting together my first 5.1 system and am building it around a 27" flat screen (not flat panel) sony wega. Given the screen is somewhat small and its not widescreen/hd ready, (and assuming my tv isn't upgraded in the near future) what features should I make sure a dvd player has? i.e...
In the same boat. Had been considering between KHT2005.2 or Gallo (one Due and 4 micros). Leaning towards the Gallos. Would be interested to hear what others have to say.
Am looking to invest in a home theater for a small apartment (listening/viewing area will be less than 12'x12'). The ability to upgrade piecemeal later is not something that is important to me. A salesperson recommended Bose's (given the small listening space); was wondering if others might...
