One would think a title like A Bronx Tale would be a no-brainer for a Blu-Ray release. There is wide awareness of this film, inclusive of awareness among the younger generation. You hear lines quoted here and there. At the very least, one can assume it can easily be marketed as a "De Niro Mob...
I agree with the broad consensus that said release is highly unnecessary. It will only create consumer confusion and frustration and detract from the inevitable Blu-Ray releases; releases I am certain many would be glad to pay a premium for.

It depends on various factors, but here's my angle on the upgrading situation: NEW RELEASES: I have completely ceased purchasing new release titles on DVD as pretty much every new title has a BR counterpart. CATALOG TITLES I OWN: I will upgrade only if all the extras are ported over and...
Here is what i think will happen: The mob war will only escalate with NY and Christopher and his wife will get killed in the process. They will have their child in before then. Eventually, the Feds come down on Tony. They grant him immunity and he proceeds to sell out the entire New York...

Drew Casper holding the Alma and Alfred Hitchcock chair at USC, this appears to be his FIRST ever commentary on an actual Hitchcock film. I am looking forward to what he has to say, the man is quite the character indeed.

I would only pick up the Sound of Music if it had all the extras from the previosu five star version AND if it had a new HD mastered transfer. But if that's not the case, the once a year showing on ABC HD is sufficient to hold me over until the probable 45th anniversary Blu-ray/HD-DVD release.
I agree, I have taken three Casper classes and my notes in his classes have been really heavy. On average, my notes span 6 pages per Casper lecture. This man really knows his stuff and is quite the character. With respect to commentaries, Casper sees them as being a purely academic tool. So...
Yeah, I watched this the other night. I would have to agree with everything you said from the tecnical standpoint. But it's a subpar musical, yet one of the last remnants of the traditional MGM musical. For us film students, it's an interesting hybrid product of the Freed and Pasternak styles...
With respect to the Wizard of OZ, USC film school murmurs are that it will be a 3-disc set. It will apparently include a new documentary "anchored" by film historian Dr. Drew Casper, which pertains to the legacy of the film. Casper's been doing quite a bit with Warner lately.
This set was set to have a more substanstial extra feature set. It was meant to be something like the Errol Flynn set with each film having a making of featurette. But it did not materialize for the following reason: Warner Bros. asked USC film professor Drew Casper and friend of Ms. Day to...
Here's hoping Fox releases this one SOON as part of the Studio Classics line. Audrey Hepburn fans need not be disappointed like this. Does anyone have any news?
