Check your receiver to see if you need to specify which digital input to assign to what input. At least I have to do that with my Onkyo...

HELP! Think new HDTV got zapped by lightning!

In the product specs it says: "On-Battery Waveshape: Stepped Sine-wave". Is that good? Also, I obviously have the powerstrip plugged into it for the number of available outlets. How am I supposed to increase the number of outlets if I can't have a strip plugged into the UPS?

HELP! Think new HDTV got zapped by lightning!

Yes, that's what it would seem like. As if someone put a large magnet in the corners of the screen. Like I said, the lightning hit very close - possibly right outside the sliding glass door next to the family room. I turned the TV back on this morning before work and the splotches are gone...

HELP! Think new HDTV got zapped by lightning!

I have a Samsung TXN3075WHF 30" Widescreen HDTV and it's not even a month old. Tonight when I came home from work there was a pretty bad lightning storm going on. I was changing my clothes when a bolt of lightning hit something really close to the house. The power didn't go out or anything and...

    Setting the optimal Sub Level

I am new to the HT world and have purchased the Onkyo HTS-760 HTIB. Beautiful system! On the powered sub, it has a knob on the back to adjust the 'level'. How do I know if it's optimally set? I don't want it too faint, and not too boomy. Any help would be great!

    Using switched power

I'm using a UPS for a couple of reasons: 1. Added protection from dips/spikes in the power. 2. Provides protection from instant off/on situations in the power. I get outages and off/ons alot in Central Florida. 3. Allows equipment to run for the few minutes it takes for me to properly...

    Using switched power

I guess I will plug them into a power strip individually then. The order went like this: Onkyo receiver plugged into power strip; plugged into APC BackUPS w/line conditioner + Digital STB plugged into receiver + HDTV STB plugged into Digital STB + Harmon/Kardon DVD player plugged into...

    Using switched power

Are there any cons of using the switched power on the different components? Or should I just plug them into a power strip individually?

Switching Component vid through Onkyo receiver

I will try it both ways this weekend (source direct to display vs. receiver switching) and see if I notice a difference. Thanks for the info...

Switching Component vid through Onkyo receiver

I also have the HD STB running through it, and I believe they are using 1080i. Am I still safe?

Switching Component vid through Onkyo receiver

If I recall from the specs in the manual, it might have said it was operating at 50Mhz bandwidth. If so, would I notice a difference if I just ran it straight to the TV instead of sending it through the receiver?

Switching Component vid through Onkyo receiver

XBOX doesn't output DVD movies in 480p (Progressive), it's still 480i. You are better off getting a progressive scan DVD player.
