    New Akai uses tubes!

The information is pretty scarce, but Akai has a 100 and 120 watt receiver with HDMI switching and 7 vacuum tubes for the amp, apparently. I've only seen two articles both reporting on CES standouts. Both compare in price to "solid state" competitors. Interesting? If anyone knows or has heard...

    pre outs-line outs

Jeff, I know there are commercially made "attenuators" as well, but I bet the principle is the same. Designed to take speaker level outputs to line level for input to switching or processing device, if I understood what you want to do. I don't know right where to send you to buy, but I...

Glossary of Home Theater Terms - New and Improved!

Chris; Would you consider running through the term "pillerbox" for me (us). I'm guessing at its definition and I'd rather KNOW. Hopefully it's not so commonly known that it's only one or two of us, er..newer readers...that don't know... Thanks. Scott

My Onkyo 500 receiver get's extremely hot, should I put a fan in there w/ it??

Kurt/Bryant, I've been happy with the JMC fans I bought for my cabinet application. I can't post the URL apparently, but search for JMC Panther fans to find out more. They are as quiet - as far as I can tell, as advertised, and move more air than I expected (I was able to use fewer fans).

    XM/Sirius in home antenna mounting

I was considering using an existing 75 ohm coax cable to go from my interior basement radio placement to the outdoors with an antenna. Anybody tried that? I've got a portable Audiovox receiver/modulator for Sirius. I realize some artfull work will need to be done on the connections between the...

Installing satellite radio- What to choose?

Hey Mike-C; I'm in the strange position to have contact with both Sirius and XM. I've had an FM modulated Sirius receiver longer in my older car, and recently purchased a newer GM with XM ready radio. I don't listen a lot on a day-to-day basis. I drive on business travel, however, so my...
