Someone told me the video transfers are the same. The R2 release uses "dubtitles" for the translation whereas this current release uses literal subtitles. The sub-tranlsation for this release is better.
I always thought Edge Enhancement and Compression are the reasons why the main movie looks worst than the deleted scenes. I doubt its a problem with the original source.
The Lumagen HDP is a much better product than the HD Leeza and it only cost $2000. I've had both the Leeza and HDP and by far the HDP is a better product. But I understand thats not the point of the topic :).
I watched the R1 version last night and I can say the video quality is awesome. It's an absolute improvement over the Two Towers and Fellowship EE DVDs. The picture is cleaner and more solid with less noise. To my eyes it’s a big improvement, but some may scoff at the lack of film grain that was...
I can tell you for sure that is not true. While the Spiderman 2 Superbit video is not reference, it is better than both LORT EE sets for sure particularly in the saturation and minimal artifacts section. There is some softness and EE, but it's only in minor shots (about 7% of them), otherwise...

For the dialog and music, the difference is marginal at best. It's when there is lots of action going on when I hear a bigger difference. The DTS track seems to have a bit more "kick" compared to the DD. Again, it's only marginal; the DD mix is not at all bad, in fact it's excellent. I dont...
I watched the Superbit version last night and the transfer is outstanding. I wouldn’t say the whole disk is reference, since there was a problem with about %7 of the picture (some minor softness, and what I perceived as edge enhancement; that could be the way it was filmed). But the rest of the...
This depends on the DLP or LCD unit you purchase.
A few things you have to consider when getting a DLP or LCD unit:
1) The resolution (ex: 1280x720 pixels)
2) The quality of the internal deinterlacer and scaler of the unit
Many fixed pixel units have non standard resolutions such as...
